Destiny from 360 to One

okay, so i am now barely getting an xbox one. My question is, with backwards compatibility being a thing now, will i have to rebuy destiny ttk for xbox one or can i just use my 360 version? it would seem greedy to make someone rebuy the entire thing but activision.

  • You will need to repurchase The Taken King as the license is only valid for the console it was purchased on. You can find purchasing options on Bungie's official page at the link: http://destinythegame.com/wheretobuy

    • If you got it digitally with the season pass, before a certain date off of the 360 marketplace around when it released, it also gave you the license for the Xbox one versions.

    • Hi Braxton If I may add a little to this. It is true that when you go from xbox 360 to xbox 1 you will need to rebuy taken king as it doesn't qualify for the digital upgrade https://www.bungie.net/en/help/article/12122 HOWEVER the dark below and House of wolves do! So if you have them they will be upgraded. ALSO depending when you bought destiny. If you bought the digital edition before Jan 2015. That actually qualifies as well for a free upgrade. So if all those are the cases then you would only need to pick up TTK, Just a small caveat though. There is not much precdence for allowing dlc to transfer over when a console generation switches. And most games that had a game on say xbox 1 to xbox 360 you would have to buy again. This isn't really them being greedy. the offered the first 2 dlcs as a free upgrade but it was a limited time offer as they knew people were still thinking of transferring over consoles and they felt at year 2 was a good cut off point for this.
