I watched a TANK shoot at a hive knight major for 5 minutes, and my crappy test handcannon does more per shot.

One of my favorite things about sci-fi shooters with multiple species is the fantastic interplay between the races during combat. I was freaking ecstatic the first time I walked into a room where the Flood were fighting the Covenant. Then, Halo 2, there would be Elites fighting Brutes fighting my marines and I fighting flood. Bloody wonderful. Crysis, seeing the mercenary jerks fighting the aliens was also awesome. There are so many other examples like this. The damage that the characters in each of these games dealt to eachother was pretty consistent to how much damage they deal to me. They would have a furious, pretty realistic fight where skill and chance determine the victor. It was brutal, and freaking awesome. Not like in Destiny, where I saw the aforementioned Tank shooting bullets the size of Titans at a knight who just chuckled and hip fired into the rock, then the crate, and then finally the giant tank 30 feet in front of him, or the wimpy red-healthbar Dreg who took 7 Axis Hobgoblin SNIPER shots to the chest before finally deciding to die. Many damage inconsistencies like this exist, where any of my wimpy weapons, that take forever to kill a guardian with, would do more damage to a Fallen Captain than a Tank blast (one-shots a guardian) or an Ogre Major's eye blast. Heck, the only time I feel like the damage is realistic between AI is when a burn is on, because then it seems like they are actually viable threats to eachother. And you know what? In each of those previously mentioned games, the enemy gave priority to the threat that seemed most appropriate and immediate: The brute firing off brute shots at an Elite Ultra's face would be the one the elite ultra focused on. They would only turn to me if I were conveniently available or if I started doing more damage. No grappling, roaring Elites and Brutes giving eachother high fives and turning towards me in unison as soon as I am visible. Compare that to Destiny, where every time I walk into a room where enemies look like they are in a cool fight, they are really just tickling one another in a comrade-like way until the REAL enemy walks into the room... the guardian. Never mind that Oryx is devouring the Cabal force like a lion among drunk lambs, and nevermind that the Guardians (with the notable exception of unusually bloodthirsty Zavala) would generally rather let them duke it out because gosh darn it I want some freaking allies for once. Anyone read the grimoire where Cayde-6 and an injured Fallen team up with eachother and duke it out with mutual enemies? What, is my Guardian that much uglier than he is? As soon as I walk in to a giant fight on the Dreadnaught between Cabal and the Hive who killed more of their brothers than the Guardians ever will, they exchange phone numbers, add eachother on facebook, followed eachother on instagram, complimented eachother's guns, and dang it I'm pretty sure one of the Hive Knights is now dating that Centurion's sister BECAUSE THEY ALL FREAKING TURN AND FOCUS ON ME. Talk about lore-breaking and immersion-breaking. Destiny, with its 4 (technically 5) different alien groups, has SUCH potential for huge, epic battles where the guardian feels like he is part of something larger, a conflict that humanity is caught up in. Instead, I feel the immersion break every time, and I am just in an artificial environment where simplistic AI in a sandbox room aim like drunken sailors, and GOD FORBID THEY FOLLOW ME DOWN THAT HALLWAY. I love this game, and love the lore. I have had epic moments during certain missions where the music is just right, and the environment is just right, and the enemies are awesome, and I would feel the chills and think "HECK YEAH! This game is awesome." But there are a lot of basic things that Bungie ha gotten right in the past 15 years that they just didn't do for this game. Bungie, I know the numbers are complicated. But you have demonstrated, with increased damage to specific weapons and damage types, that you can do things like that. Make all AI do extra damage to eachother. The ogre eye blast, that wrecks me (when we are the same level) as fast as the Chaperone wrecks me, should do that relative damage per second to the Fallen Captain. It would help all players really feel like they were part of this universe instead of just playing in a decently constructed game. All of the reasons I have listed are valid ones, and I have heard them spoken many times by other players. I assure you, it would be well worth the effort. Also, my birthday is the 31st of this month, so, um.. yeah. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :) Edit (Oct30,2015): Thank you for the support, guys! Keep bumping. Hopefully Bungie will see this and take note. I may have my complaints, but the fact is I have played this game for 1000 hours, so they've done something right, and all I want is for this to be an even greater game!!
