Fundament...What's the facts?

The Fundament A gas giant within which several solid continents floated, and upon which hundreds of species once lived. One such species were the ancestors of the Hive, henceforth referred to as 'proto-Hive'. The 52 moons of the Fundament were also home to an advanced cephalopod species that had been assisted in its growth by the Traveler. The solid continents of the Fundamentwere the remains of other planets that had crashed into the gas giant. The Fundament was an incredibly inhospitable place. Many of the proto-Hive believed in a philosophy that they called 'The Timid Truth', that they were the weakest things to exist, "the natural prey of the universe". Warring proto-Hive kingdoms inhabited at least two of the Fundament's continents; the Osmium Court and the Helium Court. The physiology of the proto-Hive resembled that of some insects; individuals would grow into one of several castes (or morphs) most of which lived for about ten years, although the mother caste may have been biologically immortal. Below the continents of the Fundamentlived a Leviathan. Deeper still lived creatures referred to as Worm God's The Leviathan and the cephalopod species were killed in the events surrounding Oryx's pact with the Worm Gods. The Ahamkara are from Fundament.

  • How can a gas giant have oceans on it if its wade out of gas? The "proto-hive" had a story about the grand wave that would kill them all. But how can a gas giant have water let alone tide currents? I think fundament was a world that orbited a gas giant.

    • I wonder why the Traveler didn't help them but just helped the other species. The whole universe seemed to be against them with the acid rain the clouds with tentacles. You would think with the Travelers power's he could get rid of those things. Unless the Traveler had some kind of problem with them.

      • Note: The Ahamkara found in the Deep were corrupted by it, and remain an enemy to the rest of their species. They were likely banished there by their species, or attempted to understand the Deep. The Deep, however, is an entity on its own.
