EDIT: A couple of people have been suggesting that the liquid is actually a ferrofluid, a liquid that you can magnetize! It'd work like a railgun essentially. If you applied a field to the magnetic liquid through coils, It would accelerate to extreme velocities! Definitely lethal enough to kill most anything the Darkness threw at us. Thanks for the suggestions, that's a neat idea too! EDIT2: Another person stated that the liquid inside may be an oobleck! It's a non-Newtonian liquid that has the properties of both a liquid and a solid!! Given all this, my new theory is that Omolon's liquid is actually BOTH. It's a non-Newtonian Ferrofluid projectile! A fluid that not only magnetizes when exposed to an magnetic field, it also solidifies when enough force is applied to it! It'd work like this: The trigger is pulled, and a small amount of the liquid is transported into the barrel via a high-pressure pump. THEN it's magnetized by a series of coils throughout the barrel. As it's magnetized, it picks up speed, until it launches from the barrel at a high velocity! Due to the properties of a non-Newtonian fluid, it would solidify as it exits the barrel, and hits with the force of a solid projectile! It's an unique type of ammo that wouldn't be hard to make, and you wouldn't lose any stopping power because the substance solidifies on impact with the air! It's pretty brilliant! EDIT3: I'd also like to mention that I could be completely wrong, and there may be a more plausible system in the Omolon weapons! So if you have any ideas, you can post those too! I won't get mad. **ORIGINAL THEORY**[spoiler]I saw a thread earlier today that was really interesting to me and I decided to do some research on it. Essentially the question was "What's that blue liquid in the Omolon weapons, and how does it even work?" Well, okay, it was actually a joke-post, but regardless, I looked up some stuff. Now the answer is pretty obvious if you know anything about modern manufacturing or anything of the sort, and I know there are some out there that don't care at all. To get to the point...My theory is that the Omolon weapons are all using advanced versions of what is known in modern day as the Waterjet. In case you don't know what one is, it's pretty simple: Take some water. Now get it running FAST. Like, faster than a bullet fast. Now force it through an extremely small opening. We're talking REALLY REALLY small. The result? A tool that can uses water to cut through steel, bulletproof glass, stone, marble.... And in the future, the heads of enemy aliens! An Omolon weapon system is essentially an advanced waterjet system, condensed into weapon form. But you may be asking, "If it's water-based, then why does the liquid not look like water?" Glad you asked! Because you see, the water they use in our systems today isn't actually normal water either! Using regular water in a waterjet would result in a less coherent stream, one that would dissipate quickly at longer range and wouldn't cut as well. To that end, we ALTER the chemistry of regular water with something called SUPER-WATER. Cool name, right? It's a soluble polymeric chemical. What that means is it reinforces the structure of the water, much like how we use concrete reinforcement bars, to tie water molecules together, making it more coherent, and more resilient to the kinds of velocities and pressure it's put through as it exits the barrel. Now, why would you want to make a system like this? It seems pretty complicated for just making a rifle. But I propose that the Omolon weapon system of using reinforced, charged liquid as ammo actually gives it a couple of benefits! First of all, it provides a clearer counter of how much ammo you've used and how long you can keep shooting before you refill. Second, consider the fact that unlike another mechanical cutting tool or system, a waterjet wouldn't overheat quite as easily, giving a shooter longer sustained fire without worrying about damaging the weapon. Third, it would require less heating. Whereas a traditional rifle leaves residue from gunpowder and metal, a pure liquid system would practically clean itself, meaning less time maintaining it. Clearly the Omolon manufacturers knew what they wanted to make. Their weapons are designed for sustained, non-stop fire and extended use on the field, making it easier to use for Guardians than a lot of other weapons of generic model or make. There wasn't really any conclusion I wanted to make with this, I just think Omolon weapons are fascinating. Oh, and here's a TL:DR. Omolon weapons are waterjets.
