So I got my Taniks cloak today (Thank you RNGesus) and its one of these random items that doesn't change colour with a shader and it got me thinking. In Y2 most exotics can now change colour with shaders equipped and don't get me wrong, its mostly a good thing (bar my Aaru's passage now ruining my praxic fire) but why does it have to be one way or the other?
Bungie why can't you add an option on armor, a sort of "colour lock", that stops or allows shaders effecting certain pieces of armor pieces? That way items like cloak of taniks can be toggled on or off meaning you can have it stay the original design or change them up with your shaders. The same goes for Exotics too as some people may prefer the old designs and now can't use their favourite shader because it doesn't blend well with their armor.
If anyone thinks this is a good idea or has a better alternative I'd love to hear them. I really think this sort of thing could only benefit the game by allowing more guardian individuality which has always been a problem because of raid gear etc.
Thanks Guardians.

I'd like that for exotics and maybe class items, but honestly there's bigger stuff for them to work on in this game.
