Exotic Weapon Review: Zhalo Supercell -AKA Thunderlord Jr.

There still seems to be a widespread stigma about Auto Rifles, and their apprent weakness in comparison to other primaries. However, if you ever get your hands on the Supercell, i would highly recommend giving it a chance. This weapon quickly became one of my favorites, and has a multitude of roles to play. Meet the Zhalo Supercell. This gun is one of the most clever, effective, and dazzling weapons in the Y2 lineup, and if guns could have babies, then Bad Juju and Thunderlord had one helluva night together -cuz Junior, here, is packing! To start off, Supercell's appearance is quite simple and pleasing. It looks like a blue AK-47 with the Thunderlord's signature sparks crackling along its barrel. When it fires, the sound is sure to re-ignite some nostalgia in veteran guardians, as it sounds just like the good ol' Khvostov. The bullets themselves even look like blue streaks. Everything about this weapon is simple, yet effective. As far as perks go, Supercell has some great customization to it. First, this weapon joins the Mythoclast and Necrochasm as another elemental Exotic Primary, by having Arc damage -a popular appeal. The most popular choice would be the Braced Frame mod, to maximize stability, while lowering the mag size from 36 to 28. This weapon also comes with a Persistence mod, which further increases stability as you keep that trigger held down. This is one of the new exotics with multiple exotic perks, as well. Supercell's namesake perk allows you to chain lightning to enemies when they are in close proximity to each other. Surprisingly, this effect happens A LOT, and there doesnt seem to be a limit to the number of enemies that it can chain -or at least I've never found it so far. The lightning does a decent amount of damage, but dont expect it to automatically electrocute that Dreg hiding behind the wall next to his Vandal buddy. It'll hurt him and prolly piss him off, but typically youd need maybe 3-4 charges to kill. Still, its a nice little aoe bonus. The second exotic effect, Bolts From the Blue is why i call this thing a Bad Juju/Thunderlord love child. While this gun inherited daddy Thunderlord's dashing looks, it behaves more like momma Juju. When getting a double kill with this weapon, this weapon charges your super and refunds half of your magizine. This perk is much more amazing than it sounds, and it already sounds awesome. Find enough Thrall that are stupid enough to charge headlong at you, and youll never have to reload -and odds are, your super will be more than ready, as well. But, where this perk truly shines is.... Golgoroth. Yep, that's right, this gun is a beast when it comes to tanking that big fugly uck. When shooting the little slime balls he fires at you, these can count as a kill. So? Each time that he shoots at you, you're not really losing ammo at all. He's reloading your gun for you! Im telling you, i actually got bored while tanking old Goloroth with this gun, because it became so damn easy! As far as PvP goes, Supercell does have a little promise. It's a stable auto rifle, without sacrificing power. Im not sure if the gun has a secret High-Caliber Rounds perk built in, or if my oppoenents just couldnt find the Safety on theirs, but it was apparent that being hit by this weapon caused some significant staggering. Thanks to the chain lightning, it is possible to pull off a double kill before reloading, and the extra Super energy is a nice reward on top of this. In closing, Bad Juju and Thunderlord made a champ out of junior, here. This weapon has speed, power, reliability, utility, and an overall feel-good aspect wrapped up into one nice little package. While it may not be considered an end-all weapon, it certainly earns its place among the best. The Auto Rifles arent dead yet, ladies and gentlemen!
