Ascending year 1 to year 2

I know it's kinda already been settled that, year one legendaries will not surpass 365. But people have favorites always will, also some of the gear we have, we've grinded for especially raid gear. And I feel there should be a way to make them relevant in year 2. A potential solution come from a Redditor; The idea is that the old raids have been overrun over by the the taken, and you play the same raid, but against taken enemies and bosses instead, on the year 2 level system so enemies are harder and so on. the raid will rng drop year two schematics of the old raid gear. You use the schematic in conjuction with your previously earned gear to bring them to year 2 level. So you have to have already have a 365 VoC for example from doing normal VoG and you've ascended it, and you play the taken VoG and it drops a year two schematic of VoC and put the two together at the gunsmith and you have a relevant weapon. This way the old raids are still relevant and repayable and you can ascend your gear still. (I don't know the Redditors user name and can't find the post again to credit him) An idea I thought of was a sort of monthly challenge. These challenges are akin to exotic weapon challenges (so there's a series of small challenges to make up the monthly one) but You have a set time to complete them after activating the challenge. Upon completing it you get the option to upgrade one piece of year one gear to year two. Being monthly it makes people use the new weapons and armour while still have a chance to make a few of their favourite stuff relevant with some time and effort. Any continuations on these are welcome as well as opinions or your own ideas. I personally feel there should just be something to bring your favourite stuff up to year 2. The option should be there.

 • To be honest, after the past five nightfalls, I have been disgusted by how OP VOG gear can be. I actually soloed them in twenty minutes. I officially never want to see Fatebringer, VoC, Praedyth's, etc ever again, but I do recognize your comment as a valid attempt to make old missions replayable. After all, members of this community would rather play dragon strikes or such rather that Lv 26 VOG to get their 'noob' friend some legendary gear. As much as I would love to keep my gloves of the Hezen Lords, and/or Fatebringer, it is time to cast these weapons into the fires of eternity. For once, I entirely agree with Bungie's idea of year 1 weapons. At least
(some of)
the exotics get to stay alive. But the thing is: if year one legendaries will "never" compete with the new ones, why are some of the nerfs still going through (such as Black Hammer)? Black Hammer's perk only ever comes in during PVE, where damage DOES matter. In fact, the only time I ever see black hammer used is against the goliath tank, the devil walker, and skolas. If these bosses are only worth fighting in nightfalls(save skolas), nerfing of black hammer is inapplicable. Black Hammer isn't the only one. What about Atheon's Epilogue, the only gun (debatably) better than Suros Regime back in vanilla? And they want Suros and Hard Light to come back without the epilogue OR shadow price? Some old legendaries do not need the proposed nerf, but they will if they are ascended, creating a highly controversial topic. I am neutral on ascending vanity gear, but some guns I do not want to see ever again
