Why is TTK not a free update?
Every game has updates that overhaul gameplay, whether it be Team Fortress, Counterstrike, Rust, LoL, Halo, etc... These all had free updates, with [b][u]optional[/u][/b] DLC. Why doesn't Bungie show some appreciation? Hell, why don't they reimburse us for the past two DLCs which were already on disk? -blam!-ing Bungie...
Edit: To those of you against this argument: Bungie is trying to justify the $40 price tag with patch 2.0. If you agree with [b]weapon balancing[/b] based DLC, the shepard is leading you down a trail of wolves.
Edit2: TDB and HoW were already on the disk. You paid for an unlock, to the previously purchased data.

TDB and HOW were not on the disk, some unfinished content relating to them were on the disk, but not the full raid/poe, TTK is suppose to be destiny's biggest DLC yet with over a dozen new exotic weapons (more then TDB and HOW combined) and six new exotic armor pieces for each class! That is so much more content it is worth the $40.

Well, if I had to [b]guess[/b], it's the situation with TDB and HOW: You will get the basic updates, stuff like Faction updates, Legendary Marks replacing Vangaurd and Crucible, weapon changes ETC, for a free update, whereas the new content like the Raid, Strikes ETC is for DLC. However the line is muddied by things like revamped strikes.

If every year my stuff is going to become useless I'm just not going to play the game there's going to be other games plus I'm playing on the Xbox one we are to get the short end of the stick which just makes all those other games that more appealing instead of buying the DLC just buy fallout 4

6 Replies1. Because those games aren't persistent world games. Just like WoW, the DLC in Destiny is NOT OPTIONAL. But, unlike WoW, Bungie isn't forcing you to pay a $15 a month sub fee just to pLAY the content you've already BOUGHT. There are no free lunches out there to be had kid. All of these companies need to make a profit. So they can pay their employees. Settle their debts and reward their investors. So no business that plans on STAYING in business for very long, every truly "gives" anything away.

Just because you bought a copy of "Destiny" does not mean you own or are entitled to anything on that disk. You signed a EULA, and by doing so you agreed to pay to play. While the way they went about some of this doesn't seem morally right, it's not a new thing nor will it be the last time something like this has happened. Welcome to capitalism.

5 Replies*disc And also, it's common practice to put ready-made content onto disc if it's ready to go. A good company will plan months, or even years, in advance. It is also a way of lowering download sizes and to shorten the download in general. We aren't in the 90's anymore.

1 ReplyTTK isn't an update, it's an expansion, it should be paid for, TDB and HoW were "DLC" (some parts on the disk already, some clearly not on it going by the multiple gb download the weak before). I do agree that they need to change their pay model though, something along the lines of (in AUD); Base game: $100 DLC #1 - Free (released over Time (2-3 weeks)) DLC #2 - Free (released over time) Expansion - $50-$75 DLC #3 - Free (rot) DLC #4 - Free (rot)

Yeah I'm thinking about stopping and playing another game because the 40 doesn't seem worth it. That should be a whole other 20 hour gameplay storyline not a raid and a few weapons and a couple cut scenes
