Bans for network manipulation are being issued in the Crucible. More details tomorrow in the Weekly Update.
What if it's accidental network manipulation?
What I mean by this is that you don't mean to do it. Let's say you have a thunder-storm in your area and your internet is going bad because of the storm. Will I still be banned?
Note: Any goofy people saying: "GIT gud scrub" or get a better internet, this is just a question. I have good internet and I have a 1.14 K.D. Ratio in ToO.
So if you still comment "Git gud scrub" well then, you haven't read this note.

Edited by MoonDawg: 7/30/2015 4:45:16 PMIf you're not cheating at the game, then you have nothing to be worried about. Bungie personally looks into people who cheat. They're not going to restrict you from the game because you dropped out one or two games due to a thunderstorm. From Bungie's Ban Policy Help Page:
Q: I just stumbled upon this page and am now worried I might be banned. Do I have anything to worry about? Nope! Bungie will not punish you for just playing the game. Fun is encouraged in many forms; if it’s fun for you to dance on someone’s head in the tower, spam grenades in Crucible matches, or just climb a cliff and sit for hours enjoying the gorgeous view, go for it! It’s your choice on how to have the most fun in Destiny. If you’re merely playing the game, then you aren’t doing anything wrong. If you find an exploit, we want to know about it in the #Help forums. Don’t be scared; we won’t be upset if you found a way to make something weird happen. Let us know about it, so we can fix it to ensure we give everybody the best experience possible!
Check out the official Ban Policy for more info: https://www.bungie.net/en/help/article/11929

Edited by UberLord Parker: 7/31/2015 12:57:01 AMThe old forums were FULL of "Why did I get banned" (Halo3) or "Why was I reset to Zero" (Halo: Reach) threads with some of the GREATEST excuses though... like "I was just doing the daily challenges and my dog accidentally disconnected my Ethernet cable." Bungie usually followed up with things like "Upon review of your account, your dog disconnected your Ethernet cable during daily challenges nine times in the last nine days. Your account has been reset to Zero." If you're not modding, abusing an exploit, or manipulating the network connections, then you have nothing to worry about. The Bungie BANHAMMER algorithms that they used in Halo3 & Reach were really good at weeding out the offending parties. I'm confident that they will not drop the hammer on people who suffer from an occasional/isolated instance of a bad connection... that happens... especially with a P2P connection over multiple regions.
-
The ban hammer doesn't care if you live in a Amazon rain forest running Destiny with solar powered devices on you newest surface pro running windows 10. If you lag frequently you will get banned.
-
Even if you're not cheating, as long as you're screwing up the gameplay for other players with lag, it doesn't matter if it's accidental or not. After today, you will get banned and they won't be sorry about it.
-
I mean I was reported by an entire trials team before for supposedly lag switching when in reality there was a huge thunderstorm outside and it was messing with my connection
-
Git gud scrub
-
I think bumgie is able to go in the game and watch players as they play...kinda how you die in a raid and you can change perspective.
-
If you weren't cheating, you wouldn't be worried.
-
I don't they would ban you because of lag due to "one" storm they look for people that have constant issues over the period of months.
-
Git Gud Scrub.

Bungie is pretty good at telling the difference. If you internet is just poop you should be fine. But if you are manipulating the network Bungie can tell and a swift ban will be enacted.
-
Network manipulation has been around since their title Halo 2. Believe me they know who is messing with their connection to gain advantages. However cheaters must be brought to light so they do not miss a terd. They look for abuse. Now,... Bungie would say "if you always have thunder storms in your area move or get banned for ruining other peoples experience. In a much nicer way of course.
-
Hello, The difference is clear to them. You'll be fine.
-
Edited by The Trojan Horse: 7/30/2015 2:03:47 AMThey know the difference between connection drop and purposeful leaving. You'll be fine if that happens.

Why not just wait for the details.
