What is up with the folks playing trials??

I have been mostly a pve Destiny player up until house of wolves launched. I have helped run countless numbers of folks through the raids, as a relic holder and sword bearer, always willing to help the community. Why are the trials of Osiris different. Where are the kind-hearted people that are willing to help those in need?? I am not the best at pvp but I enjoy the heck out of it, and I am rapidly improving. Why is it that everyone requires an MLG type player in order to get into groups? How are the lesser players supposed to improve if there is no room for them? I used to love running people with less skill than I, through the raids, teaching them along the way. It's a game folks, let's not forget that. It's supposed to be fun. People are going to die. Sometimes you are going to lose. Why be an a-hole about it? Does that really help you or the community grow? I get that the lighthouse is special and reserved for the very best, but that does not have to serve as a right of entitlement. I am looking for people, who game on xbox one, that are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to improving together and working together to get better. If you fit the bill, post here and add me. Let's grow together as a community. Also, if you ever need a relic holder, swordbearer, or a SKOLAS run, hit me up and i would be more than happy to help!! Let's get to the lighthouse!! EDIT 1: Great responses so far. Good to see this turn into a constructive thread. I will friend those that have approved and I hope to play with you all very soon EDIT 2: just went 8-0 and then choked hard in the last match. Ended the night right around 1.0kd. Had a great group of guys tonight, we just got a little nervous in the end and wasted supers. We had much better gun skill than they did, but such is the way of the trials!! Try again tomorrow EDIT 3: Again thank you to everyone who is contributing to this thread, it has been a very constructive conversation. I wanted to clarify a couple things though. I am certainly not looking for a carry, I am looking for people who want to grow and/or share their knowledge of how they have grown as a pvp player. I think we all understand the difference between pvp and pve, and why the two are vastly different. The good players can still provide mentorship to the lesser players, even if patterns, maps, and routines change. I myself have not yet been worthy of lighthouse gifts, and I am ok with that, but I am constantly striving to get better and look for advice from those who are better than me. If playing with them helps, then all the better. I am not expecting every good player to be willing to carry bad ones through, that's not at all what I am saying. I am just trying to get the more of the better players to be patient with the lesser players and teach them, realizing everyone has a different learning curve and pace. The better everyone gets, the better the community gets, and the better the competition gets. Growth is always healthy when speaking in terms of games like this. Keep up the great discussion guys and gals!! EDIT 4: THE LIGHTHOUSE HAS BEEN REACHED!!! The struggle was real, the practice sessions were long, the journey was worth it, and the rewards were excellent!!! I am happy to have joined the group and will be happy to play with others that need help as well. The lighthouse is probably the neatest place I've seen in destiny and I want others to experience it as well!! LETS DO THIS!!!

  • I hope I can be as lucky as you someday with getting to the lighthouse. Saying the lighthouse is reserved for the best is not an argument since I'm better than most with the exotic emblem.

    • It's not that people want an mlg class player, they need them. In the 7-9 games I play on a card, I maybe run into one actually good team that gives mine a challenge. And you can check my stats, they are less than great. On a side note I have only run trials 3 times, that could explain why I've seen so little actual good teams.

    • I agree with you to a point. Trials take great teamwork and communication to get the job done. I've played with people before who don't listen or know what they're doing and it wasn't a good experience.

Even before the house dropped I was honestly assisting people mostly my people but all three of my elder ciphers drop on 35 when I played with random I helped them and they helped me aside from trials I hadn't played everything through so I would be happy to assist anyone I could and also if I could get an assist with the trials that would be great

    • I hear where you are coming from man. At the same time, carrying a guardian through a raid is much different from carrying a guardian through Trials of Osiris. Raids are fairly easy and can even be solo'd now a days, so carrying a guardian who is lower leveled is rather relevant at this point. Not that it should be taken for granted, it should still be very much appreciated and well noted, but it just isn't the same as carrying an inexperience pvp'er through trials. With that being said, this community is chalk full of kind-hearted people who give up their hard earned time to carry people through Trials. I'm not going to name those people, due to the terms of service of the Bungie forums, but I promise you those people are out there. You just gotta find them. I am one of those people, I enjoy Trials so much that my sole goal with Destiny at this point is to help those make it to the lighthouse who wouldn't otherwise have the ability to make it on their own. Feel free to send me a message via XBL my GT is the same as above. Tune in to one of my streams on Twitch @ Twitch.tv/3Factor and you will find that I will do everything in my power to get you as well as any other supporters of my stream to the lighthouse. I hear your frustration, just keep trying guardian. Good luck to you.

    • I think it's great you help people I used to run sword for people Pre-How on the forums all the time and basically help with anything else. I say Pre-How because Crota just isn't challenging anymore, even when we were 32 he wasn't that hard it's just people couldn't find a good sword runner but now anybody can run sword because it's so easy now. But with House of Wolves, And this is speaking from my expiriences and what my friends have told me, and how I also feel sometimes,,you're not going to find good players openly willing to help out the lesser players a lot of the time because a lot of good people have other friends that are also good, so searching for some random that you don't even know to run with you when you can run with or help your friends doesn't really have a point unless you're just really nice, which not a lot of people will openly help others especially trials because people think so highly of trials and a lot of people like myself included care about our KD and our Trials skill level so playing with randoms isn't on the top of their lists ((not saying I'm an expert at PvP, just speaking for myself and what friends have told me)) All in all, I believe lesser players shouldn't be picky with who they play with, find anyone, maybe practice on Skirmish or elimination if it's out at the time, feel for the team then play trials. You won't get better if two good players pick you up and carry you through it, so to get better play with the same skill level as you Taking lesser players through raids is so much different because you have 6, and even if you don't Crota especially is so easy to do with just 2-3 people so they can just die and watch, with Trials, every person on your team counts. Ever play and have someone lag out? If it's on their team you push hella and mostly win, if your teanmate lagged out you usually lose. Playing with a not that great person in trials is almost like just playing with two people, with them getting a lot more super energy
Sorry if any of this sounds cocky or rude, I don't mean it too, also I didn't reread this all the way looking for typos so I apologize if things are wrong
• Because you cant help somebody who is dead weight to flawless osiris. You need to have 3 at least decent players to be competitive. Osiris is not something you play wanting to learn it is for the people who have already learned how to play regular crucible and are looking for something more difficult. If you want to teach people play regular crucible with them until they improve then attempt osiris.

    • Now you know how to get to the lighthouse!!! You use reverse psychology , first you let everyone know how helpful you are (and a nice guy in general) secondly you call them out by asking "where are all the helpful people gone" That right there is a sure fire way of getting to the lighthouse, now where was I, oh yeah did I mention how I help everyone in PVE

        • PVP is competition, you want the best. PVE is a lot more payed back and you can keep trying. PVP takes a whole lot more skill then shooting 400 rockets into a billet sponge so it's fair to be selective in PVP. You can be a slow player and be good at PVE especially if you stand in certain spots. PVP requires you to be more flexible in your play style and be able to adapt the ever changing skill levels of others. It's not like running the same strike or raid over and over and over again. It's unpredictable

          • There are some great guys in this community who love to lend a hand for trials. However, there's are a lot of demand for those guys. Just because you can't find them doesn't mean they aren't out there.

          • Personally carrying people through a raid is easy. The raid never changes. I can take 5 people in and with a little time we can finish it even when all 5 don't know how to do it. However, trials is much harder. Can't become good at pvp in one night, also, different enemies each match makes it always changing. Then, if you lose twice, or once without a mercy, you're done, where as with the raid, you just restart at a checkpoint. I've gone flawless many times and this is just my opinion, but I personally don't think I'm good enough to carry someone. I can carry my weight and my clan and I run trials every week and generally always have success. Were all good, but if it were two good players, and one decent one, it's much harder. I tried to carry one of my friends last week and we couldn't get past 5 games though I went flawless 3 times when doing it with my clan. If I were good enough, I'd happily take people through it, but I'm not good enough to basically two man trials. Just my view on it.

          • I am not the best at posting on things, but normally I do well in PvP, not every single match, but normally. In addition, relic in VoG is easy for me, I know the Skolas encounter, and I can fire rockets at Crota (never tried the sword, sorry). It would be great to practice in Trials, and I can help out in PvE. Send me a message asking/inviting when I am on and I'm down for just about anything. • Well if you check my K/D and then check my Trials K/D, I'm challenging the other groups to dance offs. Of course playing on xbox, when I demolish someone in control and get hate mail(per the usual), they bring in Trials K/D. I mean. What do you expect? I go flawless multiple times just because I can. Am I not allowed to dick off and hand out wins occasionally?
