So, as someone who mains warlock, I am really excited about the new arc subclass, Stormcaller. I mean, who doesn't want UNLIMITED POWER!
For anyone who hasn't checked out the gameplay footage yet, you totally should.
Here is a picture of the Stormcaller skill tree (not mine). Note: at E3 "storm grenade" was called "deluge grenade" and "perpetual charge" was called "inclement weather."
What are everyone's thought/feelings about this new subclass? What perks are you most interested in? Any particular builds you are cooking up?
Personally, I am slightly disappointed that (as it stands now) there is only 1 unique grenade. The announced grenades are Lightning Grenade (same as Striker), Pulse Grenade (same as Striker), and Deluge Grenade (the new/unique one).
Now, I know that each class is only getting 1 new grenade each (so far), so this grievance isn't special to Stormcaller Warlocks. Stormcallers are getting lightning grenade which is one of the strongest grenades in the game. Also as many of you have pointed out, E3 builds aren't final, so there is time for Bungie to exercise some creativity with regard to grenades and create 6 more (2 per class) unique grenades.
The greased lightning perk will make both lightning and pulse very potent, though. Greased lightning makes all enemies hit by grenades chain lightning to nearby enemies. This makes pulse essentially an arc bolt grenade with multiple chances at hitting an enemy. That's kinda sweet actually. Lightning grenade will be even more potent.
The other perk I'm really interested in is inclement weather. This causes melee/grenade kills to reduce one another. This has the potential to be extremely powerful, especially if kills from greased lightning chains proc the melee recharge.
Let's talk about what looks to be an amazing subclass!
Edit: whoops! I missed the obligatory 500 response bump-edit...soo.... 647 replies!! Woohoo!!
Edit 2: Apparently some Gamescom footage showed that Stormcaller will be getting arcbolt grenade instead of lightning grenade.

I'm pretty disappointed by a lot of the perks. Too many of them are focused on decreasing cooldowns and increasing stats. I find such perks unimaginative and boring. I wish the subclass had more versatile perks that allowed it to do more interesting things. The Nightstalker melee has that awesome ability to turn allies invisible. Titan's can ignite enemies so they take more damage from ALL allies. Stormcallers have pretty much nothing to benefit allies except a small agility boost when you take critical damage. I wish stormcallers had something that benefit the team more. I know it isn't a supportive subclass, but neither is Sunbreaker and they have more supportive abilities than even Warlock's Sunsinger

i don't like it. the super does ~50% more damage than novabomb + more killing potential with adds because of moving around + more aoe. Then it lasts 2x longer with the full grenade energy / melee energy for even more damage. other perks are better than voidwalker's

Awesome I'm excited about every thing!!!!! There's really unique one in there. WERE GONNA SHOW THE HUNTERS AND TITANS WHO'S THE BEST!!!!!!

Edited by TIZ THE RABBIT: 9/16/2015 6:34:10 AMI'm pissed off and probably not going to use storm caller because you can't blink! One would think Lightning and teleportation would be synonymous. And no I don't want to use it will I'm using my super what's the point. It goes against my warlock play style, too bad.

I'm going to bump this.,,
-
Birdman believes it should be renamed to "Birdcaller". ( * v * )

Might want to check out Planet Destiny's article on the changes made, published yesterday. As someone who mains a Voidwalker, I'm intrigued, but not sold.
-
I will never play sunsinger ever again lol
-
That's bs man, one of your abilities is an exotic for striker titans, and you guys even get extended melee range. Pair all that with the ram and you have a class that will never lose a melee battle. Also one ability for you guys is hits regen your super, but for titans it is only kills regen the super. Ughhhhhhhhhh

On the subject of the grenades those are quite possibly place holders until the dlc drops because they just needed them for E3 and Gamescon to fill it in and look finished

"Everything is subject to change" Bungie. 2015

I'm going for the the mini Fist of Havoc build, who's with me?

"And let them witness the power of this fully operational Death Star...." *evil laugh*
-
I dont main a Warlock but im excited to face a new type of Warlock and excited for my clan mates that main a Warlock
-
I personally think it will be the new hated super in PvP. It's arc, has blink, and has the potential to win multiple encounters. It's the new bladedancer!

Edited by Urban Shade: 8/25/2015 5:30:21 AMLightning glide is a fancy way of saying "haha we'll always be more crutch. SUCK IT BLADE DANCERS!"

Its good they won't get lightning grenade. With greased lightning that would be way op. All it would take is one idiot on your team who couldn't get away fast enough to fry everyone else XD. That said greased lightning and arc bolt grenades seem like an extremely potent combo.

Not going to lie, I'm going to work on my Palpatine laugh simply so I can laugh every time I activate the Super. Stormcaller just brings a smile to my face every time I see its game play. Many of the perks are going to be fun to use when going against mobs of enemies :)

I WILL PLAY THIS SUBCLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 24-7
-
I'm worried about the perk that gives increased Melee distance.

I main a warlock, be that will change when sun breaker comes out
