Of Shadows and Memories Long Lost (Chapter 2)

CHAPTER II Yolmar-62 Masrur stood still, unable to imagine the intentions of the Guardian now standing before him. It was a warlock, a man to be specific, arrayed in a red jacket with strange markings all over. Each glowing with a mysterious yellow light. He wore black gloves on his hands, and his forearms had spikes protruding towards his biceps. Upon his shoulders were clasped two giant claws, like a birds. "Ahamkara," Masrur thought to himself, another random fact he seemed to know. The warlock stepped towards Masrur slowly, until he was almost within arms length. "What are you doing here? This area is quarantined by order of Vanguard Boron." The man spoke in a clear and serious tone, his voice was very deep. "My name is Masrur. I do not know why I am here. I woke and found myself lying in the snow, over there." "Why were you asleep in these woods? It is very dangerous. You must come with me immediately." "I don't know why I was asleep. What is the danger?" "Ahamkara." That was all the man said to Masrur, as if that one word was intended to mean something. He then grabbed Masrur by the arm and pulled him to his ship. "We cannot speak here. We will speak more inside my ship. Ghost." The man called out, and a small bot appeared before him. "What can I do for you Guardian?" "Inform Boron that the mission has been delayed and I am on my way to give him the details. Start the engines." "Right away." And with that, the little machine disappeared into the air. The engines kicked into gear and Masrur was teleported on board the warlock's ship. "Where are you taking me?" Masrur asked with a tone of irritation. Enough to make the warlock feel uneasy, and willing to give some answers, now that the danger had subsided. "To the tower. I must speak with my mentor and you must prove your identity." "Prove my identity?" Masrur echoed,"I don't even know who I am! How do I know I can trust you?" "Because I am a Guardian, a being of the light. My name is Yolmar-62, and I'm an Exo." As he said this he removed his helm to reveal a hard metallic head with green eyes. A moment of silence fell between the two. Masrur did not even know what he should think about first. Who he was, or how he got into those woods? Whether or not this Exo was friendly? Masrur remembered that Guardians were beings of light, and often people described them as having a presence of light. But Masrur only felt cold. From the moment he woke up he felt cold. He understood that the craft he was now inside was warm, but inside, he felt frozen... and dark. Feeling despair he sat down on a small iron crate nearby and grasped his hands around his head. Feeling his hair. "We will be there soon." cried out Yolmar suddenly. The Exo was thinking of much as well. Guardians can feel the light inside each other, as well as the darkness in their foes. But this man was different. Yolmar couldn't put his finger on the reason. "Not dark, but not light." He thought to himself. Curiosity whelmed up inside of his mechanical mind. "I will let the Vanguard question him, and I will ask the Speaker what he knows."
