Killed Skolas legit without 30 second Gjallarhorn strategy
First off. I'm not announcing this like it was an amazing accomplishment. I know it's not. Just saying that it is alot more fun to play it the way it was designed to be played.
Messaged someone on my friends list for a lvl35 PoE fresh run. We made it through the first 5 stages with only 2 wipes in between. Tried to kill him by spamming rockets but we couldn't. Dude from my friends list was a good player but no Gjallarhorn has dropped for him yet. He was running with a 331 Valedictorian with solar and tracking. After a few wipes one other guy dropped out and I got messaged from someone else on my list asking if we needed a 3rd player. Let him in but told him that we only have 1 365 dmg Gjallarhorn and a 331 dmg legendary. 2 warlocks and I was the hunter which means no bubble. A few wipes later the guy with the 331 Valedictorian says that he can leave to make room for a different player with a Gjallarhorn. Both myself and my other friend who joined us said no way. My friend said that Skolas was End Game content, not Gjallarhorn Only content. Well said. We got into a groove, started communicating very well, picked each other up and defeated that Traitor Kell.
It was so much more fun and gratifying that way. Kind of like a flawless raider Crota run that we ran the bridge encounter legit.
It felt exactly like what I envisioned Bungies goal for Destiny to be.
Guardians...let's help each other out against the Darkness and stop worrying about whether or not someone is using a specific weapon. There's more than one way to whoop some Darkness butt!

This is what its all about, still no gally for me but in ways I'm glad, fighting tooth and nail in some hairy ass backs to the wall moments, that's what I love about destiny. Not just beating a boss in a minute for loot that really isn't all that good.. The boss encounters are the cream of the pve crop.

I joined a group, we all just happened to have ghorns, after wasting about an hour (maybe 3-4 wipes in a row, plus all the 'ammo/super runs) one guy rage quit, so We picked up another random who had to go after the first wipe, (other guy quit too leaving just me) I post in the forums, at skolas need help, and invite the first two randoms, neither of which had ghorns, we did it legit the first try, took about 20 minutes.

5 RepliesI'm not downing the one method you can use to kill skolas but I am disappointed that there is so much control over the strategy people use. I've done it both ways and I say who cares. As long as you're having fun. I wish Bungie stopped trying to force only 1 method to do things. Again...glad you're having fun but wish the micromanagement stopped.
