Balance Thorn by Buffing other weapons

Yes this gun is powerful, but its only powerful now after all the other primary weapon classes were adjusted. So how to fix this issue, is rather simple. Undo some of the nerfs. Red Death and Suros Regime both have a powerful healing factor, both could be seen more often in PVP, If the health effect pops after the mark then the mark is removed effectively. Red Death seems fine the way it is but auto rifles need a buff because they were effective in Thorn ranges before they were nerfed, now they can not compete. Return 1/2 of the damage nerf back to auto rifles, would help with this.
In addition to allowing auto rifles to return to importance. I suggest new perks for weapons and armor
CLEANSING- precision kills with this weapon have a chance to remove all curses from the player (about 25% chance)
PURITY- DOTS put on players disappear more quickly (Time of Mark of the Devoured will tick for 5 instead of 7, and weight of darkness will be removed 2x as fast)

I love my thorn, the only nerf it really needs is DOT wears off once the thorn user is killed. Also, auto rifles need a buff big time.

3 RepliesAlso, since one gun can't be sup widely used in PvP... Should we cut wolf pack rounds in half in pve? Can't be having the ghorn more powerful than other rockets... It isn't fair and you'll hurt their feelings.

6 RepliesOk to everyone here read this post like it dislike it but let this be said. Bungie stated they were tired of people using weapons just because they were the best weapons to use. Ok thats fine and at least they listen to community ideas and posts such as mine but, focus on one thing at a time. Right now don't nerf anything, simple yes? Just buff auto rifle to be equal with pulse rifles, you see Red Death is the new Suros Regime well sort of, anyway lets just make them equal as step one there is no reason pulse rifles should've jumped ahead of auto rifles and that was a mistake that can easily be fixed. After they're equal we can then decide on what to do next just think one step at a time when if you take two steps pulse rifles will be obsolete again. If you take three steps Suros Will be god again. As for hand cannons will be on top still however guns such as Red Death AND Suros Regime can stand a chance as well as legendary auto rifles and pulse rifles. Take my word for it if auto rifles get as good as pulse rifles again things will be much better.

30 RepliesOk.. So what do you plan to do with the last word, which fires 3 shots to your 1 and is a 2 shut kill? Or the hawkmoon, which can still shoot all the way across the map without damage loss or drop in accuracy, which has 3 random bullets that are one hitter quitters? If anything they need to nerf the range of hand cannons. Bottom line, stop whining and get your skill up.

For Purity it should be Debuffs, not dots.

I agree. What people do not understand, or have forgotten, whatever, thorn hasn't received a buff in months...months! the patch that annihilated auto rifles, & buffed pulse rifles actually NERFED hand cannons in both pve & pvp. their range, & damage fall off took a pretty hard hit. even though it's still ridiculous. thorn has been an amazing gun for quite some time now, but people had other viable options to use. since auto rifles went down the shitter, is when Thorn became so popular. I am thoroughly convinced if other weapons were buffed that the use of thorn was significantly decrease just as it was before. I do not know when the last Thorn buff was, but it's been longer than the pulse rifle buff. which was within the last 4 months. it hasn't been buffed, meaning that it hasn't just become great out of nowhere. it's been made great because too many other popular weapons have been made absolute garbage. that's the real issue at hand.

In theory I agree that it's better practice to buff some other things up rather than nerf Thorn, however, I still feel that Thorn just has the potential to kill too damn fast. You could really get away with not touching anything else on the weapon other than increasing its ROF to match that of Hawkmoon and you'd see much less of this crap going on. It's just too easy right now to rattle off shots very fast even if you're missing their head. A while back I supported changing the way the DoT functioned so that it is unable to cause lethal damage to Guardian targets, but I doubt that will ever happen. Just increase ROF and I'll be happy.

No. Thorn kills too fast, if we have all guns killing that fast then it will be call of duty in space. We don't want that bs. Nerf thorn.

Buff auto rifles a tad bit. Keep pulse rifles the same. Keep handcannons the same. Auto rifles were ridiculous before, and I don't want to see them return to that

These posts are so stupid. We don't need every weapon in the game to kill me in 3 shots. What do you want? Another -blam!-ing call of duty? Nerf everything equally. Yea, I said. Nerf everything. Maybe then these forums can start recognizing what real gun fights are in PvP. If you want to buff everything to god mode in PvE. Go ahead. I wouldn't mind one shotting skolas. Who wants to waste their time killing an AI that does the same thing every time.

I don't know why people keep calling for a hand cannon nerf. It won't fix anything. Pulse rifles will just replace them.

I think it is currently a mess but the way they "fix" things would only make matters worse. I can live with the current mess so I say just leave it alone. If they fix it they will likely make another class of weapons we don't even carry any more. There are two of such now I can think of we can't loose more weapons to poor attempts at balance.
