Bungie To-Do List

Hello, and welcome to Bungie's To-Do List, a place where community and original (my) ideas alike can gather into one simple post for the future betterment of Destiny! I've numbered all the requests and separated them into 3 groups: Fixes, Balances, and Additions. Let's start it up! Fixes 1. Treasure Key Farming Many people will hate me for saying that getting multiple chests off of one Ether Key should be fixed, but hear me out. Bungie will inevitably fix this, so why not have it fixed in a way that makes everyone happy? Simply fix it so that everyone gets one chest per Prowling but jack up that drop chance on the keys! Now since we can do something worthwhile more than once a week with treasure keys, people seem to be playing more. That's great for Bungie! Why not change this then? 2. Range This would go under balances but it's not the specific gun range that's the issue, but rather the stat itself. It's not very accurate on some guns. What the stat should be doing is weakening the bullet at longer ranges if the range stat cannot compensate (as the bullet would be moving slower the farther it goes, so it makes sense). This is actually very, very accurate with shotguns. When I change the stat, I feel the difference. But with any other gun, not so much. I may notice a drop in precision damage by 1 or 2 points, but if you're not paying attention to the numbers, you won't notice the difference. I will talk further about this in the Balance section. 3. Graphics Issue This isn't in dire need of fixing, it's just to make the game more visually appealing overall. And it's that pesky spire on Crota's End. If you're looking out the big window where Ir Yut's crystal is, to the right is a pillar/spire that looks like two surfaces are constantly overlapping each other (Halo 3 Forge veterans understand). "Who cares? It's just a glitch." Visual appeal is a huge part of what makes a game great and little things like this are pretty cringe-worthy. 4. Crucible Special Weapon Ammo This ammo has been given the short straw two or three times now. It's been screwed over so much that putting it in the Balance section would be a disgrace. I love the drop rates of the ammo. I do have to hunt for it sometimes but with the nifty waypoints that were added, it's not a nuisance. But what is annoying is the amount of ammo I get. "Yay! Four shots in my sniper!" Now that's at least 3 kills for skilled players (*cough* me *cough cough*) but for the younger guys or the guys that just plain suck, that's not enough. I then begin to wonder why I even came for the ammo. I recommend giving us 1 full mag and 1 full reserve mag no matter the weapon. And if you want more you'll need a weapon with Surplus, Replenish, or a mag upgrade. Balance Brace yourselves, Felwinter is coming! (original quote? Or subconscious plagiarism?) 1. Weapons (Broad) Oh boy here we go. We're skipping the flowery introductions and getting straight into the nitty gritty. Hand Cannons - These are short to mid range weapons. Lets make them that way. All hand cannons suffer from a broken range stat. Even if you configure The Last Word to have a sliver of range, you can still two shot hip fire from sniper range. Need I say more? Keep the damage where it is on these cannons but create a more accurate range stat. Auto Rifles - Range is fine. Just push the precision back up and raise the damage a smidgen. Also the low impact rifles should probably do no less than 20 precision in Crucible. High impact ones, let them be. Pulse Rifles - I love the auto... I mean pulse rifle Oversoul Edict. Pulse rifles and Hand cannons are clearly the go-to weapon choice for many players in Crucible. Push the damage down a little. And I mean a LITTLE! Just enough so that people don't assume they are superior. Scout Rifles - There has never been anything wrong with these and that is why I use them more than any other gun. No suggestions. 2. Weapons (Specific) The Last Word - Leaving the broken range stat aside, it just does too much damage. No I'm not another whiner in the forum — just a player who could see some beneficial changes. This thing shoots as fast as some auto rifles but triples the damage. With how fast it shoots, it could stand having a 3-4 shot precision in Crucible (at about 63 damage) but a 2-3 hip fire. This is intended to push the players tendency to hip fire as that's why the gun was made which you can see from the perks. Thorn - ding ding ....wait for it.... BING. You got a kill with Thorn! Seriously, when the gun was first nerfed there was no issue. But people whined that it wasn't two shot and they actually had to press a button one more time for a kill! That's scary to think that I should have to try that hard to win. The idea for this gun is great. Rather than giving it a standard impact for hand cannons it should have the lowest impact of all Hand Cannons with the burn damage to compensate. The gun is unique in that the damage is spread out over time. Here's the change: Lower the rate of fire. Give it 80% of the impact. Have the poison get stronger after each consecutive hit. First hit - 5 burn damage 2nd - 7 Third and up - 9 (These numbers are suggested) If you think about it, with these changes Thorn will still be very powerful. It just won't be considered a cheap gun anymore. I want people in the Crucible to say "cool that guys using thorn" instead of "cool that guy isn't using thorn." I don't want to nerf guns. Just balance them. Additions I don't really care what they add. I just want to see what you guys want to see. Comment down below what you think needs to be added and I will try to edit them into this section. Notice I did not talk about special or heavy weapons. Let them be. To Bungie: This is your game. Stop listening to the community so much. You should start discerning which changes are good and which ones are bad. It seems as if you read one post whining about getting killed by some guns and immediately fix that. Don't be scared to lose people to your game. You cannot make a single game that every person will love. Make the game you love and the community that forms will support you, even if it is small. But, good for you, it is nowhere near small. You have many eyes watching and waiting for every new idea you bring to the table. They consume your ideas like a sponge consumes water. This is a monarchy, Bungie, and you are the king. Shower your community with extravagant gifts from your loving rule. Make a game, then make your community love it, not the other way around. Show them that you are listening and that you care, but never step down from your throne. The changes we see in Destiny should reflect your ideas. Make the changes as you see fit. Your loving community will follow. To the Community: This is a video game. There will always be someone better than you. Even the top players will lose to someone, somehow. Don't get on the forums to complain about how your day in Destiny went. We don't care. The people who care about the game get on these forums to talk real talk. They want to see the game see better days. They aren't trying to form the game into something only they will like, but what everyone will like. The only way everyone can be happy is if you compromise. Sure, I don't like getting killed by shotguns, but it doesn't mean they are broken. If you don't like something, leave. The forums are not for you to get on here and be selfish. When you speak, you speak for the community. If you keep dying by something you think is overpowered, change your strategy. I've dropped shotguns altogether and started sniping at close range. That works for me. Find something that works for you whether it be changing how you play or just quitting altogether. When people complain for selfish reasons it ruins the game. But if you complain for the community, the game becomes better. Your choice. If you want to see Destiny develop into the best game Bungie can offer, then leave your nagging comments to yourself. Thank you all for reading. I appreciate everyone in the community and everyone in Bungie. It's just time we took a stand and established what Destiny will and can be. Now get back out there. The Darkness awaits. If you want to play with me my gamertag is ArcaneLeviathan. You will find me on Xbox 360 most likely in Crucible (carrying of course).
