This is one of my idea's for helping balance the crucible. Its a pretty simple concept. Give people access to four types of shields. Kenetic (default), Arc, Solar, and Void. Weapon's with the same element does bonus damage to the first 2/3rds of a person's health bar (The Shield), and a resistants (maybe 20%?) to any element not the same. It could help out balance crucible games, and give titan's and warlocks some flexibility in the hunter dominated world.
Now how the the weapon smith would come in here, aside from he could sell the base shields, he can roll for element's on weapons with kenetic damage or reset a primary to kenetic. Obviously for some type of cost. The exception being exotics, they will have a locked element for when you unlock them.
This could also be a solution with bungies conundrum of keeping the old weapons. Fear of us keeping the same weapon forever. If we had weapons we could elementalize then we may not wanna keep our fatebringer or predeayths timepiece.

And also a big no to shields like why would we need them? It's a really stupid concept for Crucible and Elemental its just so stupid for them to add it in.

Honestly they would have to test run it. Weapons should have element damage anyway. I never considered armour though

That's stupid the only thing that should be balanced is the friggin Exotics in the game as in Crucible. Like that Ghorn and other types like low ammo reserves for Exotic Heavy Weapons. For Exotic Specials there's no point cause of the low reserve anyways. Primary are fine.

Making it mean something and adding elemental resistance to players for PvP would cause too many balance issues Elemental resistance would work for PvE but for PvP I'm going to say… no. If it aint broke don't break it.

I think this would be a great pve idea, not sure about the crucible though. Not everyone has raid weapons with elemental damage... Don't want to exclude people even more in this game
