Which rifle would you rather have in a defensive situation
Which one and why?
Edit: all weapons are semiautomatic, because they are civilian versions and we don't have the licenses or ability to convert to fully automatic.
The defensive situation is a SHTF situation, no electricity, anarchy, government shut down. You have to live off the land and protect your homestead from intruders.
Your protection is your house you currently live in, and the fight is where you currently live. You don't have to be apart of a group but if you want to you can.
You have as much ammo as you need.

I would have say the m60 because even if it was semi auto ( there is no semi auto m60 at least not that I know of) you have massive belts of ammunition and there prity accurate do the immense weight of the gun and you have 7.62 stoping power

Probably none of those, but if I had to pick I'd be the AK. I would personally take a quality .22 with me for ammo abundance and other obvious reasons, but AK 47 is durable so it'd probably last longer than all the ammo used

This gun can take 5.56 and 9mm; plus there are variants for all the other regions. Compact, phenomenally reliable, low maintenance, close-quarters oriented, waterproof... its perfect or some anarchy world upheaval situation.

Going strictly off the initial criteria I would had to go with the AK. I currently own an M-1 carbine and love that rifle so it would be my choice off the list. On the list....AK all the way

1 ReplyProtect from intruders? So I have at least some prep time? Am i part of a group? If so none of these, I'd use the gun I know I can use and kill with, a good but old 30.06. Rounds are easy to find, I know how to service it, and if it can kill and elk it can kill a human. Of course this would only work if I was part of a group to give support to. If I was alone it would have to be an AR since it is probably easiest to find ammo for and i have shot them before. [spoiler]no need for anything bigger than a 30.06 round, anything else is overkill honestly[/spoiler]
