Strange coin availability
The thing that really grinds my gears the most is coming up 1 or 2 coins short for an exotic weapon from xur. Strange coins should be more likely to drop or there should be some other way to obtain them(like xur selling them again). I grinded it out in vanguard roc yesterday for just under 12 hours straight just to have everyone around me in the fireteam get that one solitary coin that i desperately needed and it was the most frustrating thing ever. And before you jump on my case i have 2 level 30 characters in which i do the heroic strikes every week to earn the most amount of coins possible but come xur time im still short, all im saying is there should be another way to get the coins either trading or buying etc. But please by all means correct me if im wrong.

With work demands and all, I usually only have time to run the weeklies, that's 27 coins. Without the time to grind Roc for coins, I rarely have enough to buy a shard once I've gotten whatever weapon/armour piece that takes my fancy.... Edit: even if he came with a bounty that rewarded a shard, that would be enough for me. :3

Strange coins are always dropping. You have 2 31s, that's 18 coins guaranteed a week. Do around 5 roc strikes a day and you'll have plenty by xur day.

If you run strikes and max out your marks on 3 characters and turn all the blue engrams you'll average at least 1 coin and 1 mote every 10 engrams. Not to mention the chances of getting coins from NF. Just ran 3 nfs and weeklies yesterday for a friend of mine and got 41 coins and 10 motes. So they do drop.

The devs could also add a mini-game (3 card monty) hosted by a shady street vendor...where you wagger glimmer for the chance at winning coins. In the meantime...recommend leveling up that Titan to get those extra 9 weekly. That is what I been doing.

3 RepliesHad nearly 200 this week, and there's hardly ever a week when I don't upgrade or buy something. It's called grinding. It ain't fun, but it's the game. Weeklies alone on three characters is 27 automatic coins. Throw in bounties and Vanguard Roc and it should take no time at all to build up a cache. Pro Tip: only buy armor upgrades that either take the armor to maximum levels OR raise levels a minimum of 10 points. That's 7 coins for a shard (assuming you don't have exotic shards) saved. Use motes to buy engram and take to Cryptarch before you make any armor purchases. You might get the piece you're looking for, saving coins.

13 RepliesWhat you want to do is make a third character and level it up. Pain in the ass, I know, but I literally spent my entire holiday two weeks ago levelling up my Titan and Warlock, as before then I could only guarantee 9 coins each week. It really helps being able to do the weekly 3 times.
