Thorn for noobs or tactically smart
Is the thorn a crutch in pvp? everyone seems to complain about it. What are your opinions on the thorn in pvp? Is it worth upgrading?
Edit: Great to go to bed and wake up and seeing all the replies, I thought thorn got a bad rep. Is there anyone out there that voted for thorn as a noob wep who has it or anyone who voted thorn good who does not own one quite yet?

2 RepliesThorn is cheap its already strong so is the burn necessary? Theres no way to fight it. If you get shot twice and you still kill them, you will still die from the burn

7 RepliesHere's my opinion on all weapons, not just thorn. It's war... There's no rules. Whatever weapon or tactic helps you defeat your opponent is the one to use. There's no cheap way or honorable way. It's just what kills them and leads your team to victory. Doing things your way and not the accepted way is how every upset victory comes about, if they can't predict you then they can't prevent you. Take the American Revolution for example... The British expected to quell the rebellion with a superior army fighting by "established etiquette" in war. The rebels used cheap tactics, camping behind trees and sniping the leaders. I am sure the British had all sorts of bad names for them too, but the rebels won the war and that's all that matters. If you want a true test of skill then everyone has the same weapon with no difference and no variety in a big square box with no cover... Boring boring boring. Bungie has already demonstrated they're going nerf whatever they thinks unfair and will force you to play in a manner they see fit, so use whatever you can while it's there. TL:DR Fight to win guardians!

Thorn barely got a buff. Was ridiculed by a chunk of day one players as being ass. n00bs come in, get their shit wrecked and now Thorn is OP. -blam!- ya'll.

1 ReplyIt's not that it's a noob weapon it's like that weapon that once you get it it just fires right it just feels right in your hands. So if you use the thorn like me then I'm assuming it's the weapon that you like and I'm not going to tell you how to play your game and you shouldn't tell me how to play my game fair. And just for the record no weapon is a noob weapon

It's a gun that fires a projectile. Essentially, it's the same as every other gun because they, too, shoot a projectile. My idiocy aside, I think it will always be up to the individual who uses the weapon. I use Thorn and I know it's overpowered. But who really cares? Any gun can be outgunned by any other, any reasonable ones I should say (sorry Khozkov loyalists), it just depends on how the firefight plays out. Most who complain about Thorn are those who are shot first. It's being unaware of your surroundings that gets you killed. Not many are perfect HC users and Thorn is honestly one of the more difficult ones to master. I am not condoning it being overpowered, but just like with every single other gun: if you get killed, it is almost ALWAYS your own fault. I don't complain, I just move on and pay better attention. Shit happens, Thorn is not the "be all, end all" weapon.

I treat it like another game in the game. If the poison from thorn kills me I breakout mine and return the favor. If the bullet kills me, I just say well done and keep using Monte. Same way with shotgun vs snipers vs fusions. Cheapest kill brings mine out.

5 RepliesThorn is only obtained through the most difficult exoctic bounty including the most difficult pvp.element. If a player has completed the bounty then they have earned the weapon fairly and the right to use it anywhere/any time. Note: I don't have Thorn, I don't like being killed by it but I don't hold a grudge against those that kill me.

1 ReplyMy main problem with the Thorn is it's range. Even after it being nerfed, I still get sniped from across the map with it. Compare it to the other high tier weapons: Both the Last Word and the Vex - the monsters that they are - are only effective at close to (barely) mid range. While the Red Death is exclusively mid range. The Thorn, meanwhile, can be used at virtually any range. Make the reach sit a little above the Last Word and I'd stop complaining about it.
