The shotgun "problem."

Not that this thread will change anything. But I need to get it off my chest. Because if i'm perfectly honest this change has frankly made me rather upset. There have been many changes or design choices about this game that leaves me scratching my head or being disappointed. But I always tried to keep my head up and have a little faith. Well I can't anymore. And even if by some stroke of luck Bungie actually changes things around the only attitude i'll have is "too little too late." Anyway let me "school" you on the design of the game as far as pvp goes. Firstly, forget what the label is next to your gun. Just think of your weapons as tools for certain instances. Now imagine a few maps in multiplayer. Now how many of those maps have close quarters? Or how many of those maps push you into cqc after you blink or slide? The point I am trying to make is that objectively and factually this game has been designed combat in such a way that we are supposed to be using shotguns in close quarters. This is easily seen by how many maps favor cqc play. As well as we have movement options that support a rushy style of play. Things like infinite sprint, blink, and sliding. The game seems to want to focus a lot on movement. And movement heavily effects cqc play. The more you move the more often you are close enough for shotgun play. Not to mention that we actually spawn with the thing. And frankly I don't see a problem with using a shotgun in close quarters. Gears of war is designed with a 3 tier weapon system as well. and if you watched any "competitive" play you'd see that people wall bounce around the map using shotguns mainly. Even though your "primary" is a rifle. replace wall bouncing with our movement options and you can see the similarities. The real problem here is that people expect the game to be similar to other generic shooters like call of duty or battlefield. Both games you have a primary that basically works in all situations and a secondary if you choose that is not strong. only used as a back up. I see evidence of this because people have compared hand cannons to pistols when complaining about their damage and shotguns being called secondaries. This is not how the game is designed. So people should stop trying to force it that way. Now i'm not going to try and guess Bungie's motives on this change. Even though my personnel view is that they are simply bending to community will and/or forcing us to play a way they want even if it goes against base mechanics. We have seen evidence of this. Atheon's teleport phase change, the repeated nerfs to auto rifles, and now shotgun nerfs. No, instead i'll offer a solution. Lets pretend for a moment that this is a real issue. If Bungie wanted to lessen shotgun usage they could have done 2 things. Added more maps that support balanced play allowing for all play styles. the mars map that allows you to use vehicles is a good example of this. On top of adding more maps in like that they could give us real gametypes instead of this inferno junk or the ability to revive players and calling them new gametypes. If we had a variety of gametypes that amounted to more then just shoot the bad guys we'd see more variety in guns. To be perfectly clear. I can do fine with a primary weapon. check my warlock who mains control. I use an equal balance of weapons in there. Rumble on my hunter is a bit different. I have almost never ran shotgun only. I merely use it when the situation calls for it. and seeing as how the game seems to want me to be in cqc often I use it more often. If people want to insult me or flame me go right ahead. Those kind of people are not rational. I've yet to give me someone a legit counter to support these changes. it's always "use a different gun" or "shotgun scrub" you get the picture.
