I have had the original 3ds for 4 years and I skipped out on the 3ds xl. Is the upgrade worth it?
-
Wait until the Non-XL releases in america.
-
Wait for it to be packaged with Xenoblade X, or Fire Emblem IF.
-
Well the short answer is: Yes, buy a 3ds. You can find them cheap and it has an amazing library of games. No, it doesn't have to be the new 3ds xl unless you really want xenoblade. Nothing else really takes advantage of the superior hardware.
-
No. This is Nintendo we're talking about. Just get the original 3DS or even the 2DS if you're gonna break the screen

-
I'd wait for the non XL model. I'm not sure why they even made the XL model a thing, in the first place.
-
It depends on if you want Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.
-
I won't until a non-xl model comes out. It was stupid of them to not release it.
-
The most significant difference is that the 3D effect is now far more stable, so moving your head or handheld while playing isn't a major problem anymore That alone makes the new 3DS infinitely superior to the old model, such that I've no inclination to use my original 3DS ever again
-
Do you like Xenoblade? Because there's a port for that on the new 3DS. You can also get monster hunter 4 with better visuals and controls. If there isn't a pressing reason for you to do so though, I would stick with what you have. I upgraded specifically for the Xenoblade Port and have yet to regret it.

Be warned of just how damned big this thing really is. If you're used to the launch model, this thing is a monolith. Also, models are being shipped with either TN or IPS screens, so it's a gamble whether or not you're getting the good (IPS) one. Frankly, unless you're busting down the door to play a game that's going to benefit from the control nub, I'd hold out a little longer. And I say that as someone who was enough of a shmuck to upgrade from his ambassador launch model.
