A Controversial SW Theory

Hear me out. I think stormtroopers actually are accurate, and miss on purpose. It makes sense. Proof: "blast marks too precise for sandpeople" -known to be better shots than sandpeople, who can snipe a moving podracer. Proof 2: when the main characters escaped from both the Death Star and Bespin because the stormtroopers missed so much, whaddayaknow there just happened to be a tracker on board. Proof 3: When storming the Tantive IV, the stormtroopers lay waste to the rebel troops already entrenched behind cover. It is shown that they can be highly accurate and very deadly, except when someone is escaping with a tracker on the ship. Maybe they arent the buffoons we have all taken them for for so long.

  • Where's the controversy? It's not like you said they defiled the bodies of everything they did shoot. Anyway, I think Plot Armor is the word you're looking for. Interesting theory though.

    • Also, consider the time/places we see them with terrible aim. They're usually in places that would maintain more cursory guards, rather than elite forces. Death Star was a mobile fortress, which was believed to be impregnable. Perhaps those were more a security detail than a combat unit. Also explains their more defensive/panicky strategy. Bespin. Again, a fairly defensive/non-combat specialized grouping, more for appearance than anything. They had Fett and Vader to deal with any trouble. On the other hand, the group on the Tantive IV were fully combat-specialized, better marksmen, etc. That was a full-fledged raid. And the only reason Endor wasn't going as well was the enemy had camo, subterfuge, and were severely underestimated by the troopers.

    • They miss because if they didnt miss the main characters would die and then the plot would be ruined. Thats how movies work.
which is why video games are so much better than most movies.
• Actually it's battle meditation, as explained in the books, stormtroopers are actually some of the highest trained troops in the star wars universe.

    • I never believed storm troopers were bad just because George Lucas is a bad director

So why do they miss on purpose?
