I just had a theory that I wanted to throw out there. I've been trying to keep up on the forums and so far, I'm fairly positive that no one has come up with anything like this so correct me if I'm wrong... My theory started out with the thought that the Traveler is basically one giant machine capable of miraculous things. Some might even say that the Traveler is some form of machine deity, but a machine nonetheless. Obviously the Traveler has an extremely high form of intelligence that far surpasses human understanding... That's when I started thinking of it as an AI... Kind of like Cortana from Halo, except it happens to have its own giant spherical body. Now consider this... The story says that the Traveler has been lying dormant since the Collapse. The same can be said of the Warminds. They were powerful AI's that suddenly seemed to go dormant as well. As you play through the story, you realize that one of these Warminds, Rasputin, has suddenly become active. My theory is this... After the Collapse, the Traveler's body has become weak and somewhat useless, but it somehow "hacked" itself into Rasputin and is now using the defense network to help the humans in their fight for survival as well as its own. What do you guys think? Is this a possibility, or is it too far-fetched?
