You should have the option to collect ammo to build synthesis
When your secondary/heavy weapon has full ammo you should be able to hit a button while standing on ammo to help build a synthesis (every 10 or 20 builds up one synthesis)

Found ammo? Beam it up to the ship and store it in orbit. Need ammo? You've got 67,203 rounds that dinklebot can teleport directly into the breech without even removing the mag. Oh wait, I'm sorry did I just point out magazine changes in a world where the technology exists to materialize and dematerialize a whole player from deep underground to orbit while not having the ability to move bullets from your pocket to your gun? Sorry, next I'll be talking about how being stopped by a locked door and transporters are mutually exclusive... stupid me!
