I have a friend that is bi, a friend that is gay, a friend that is lesbian, and they were treated like they were less then humans. I support transgender people

Right, my opinion here. I've known and befriended a fair amount of transgender people within my life. I have no problem with their gender choices and I have relatively reliable secondhand views (from them) of their opinion on topics such as this. Couple that with my perspective of being a cis-gendered male in this situation and the end opinion is somewhat conflicted. Heres my argument. What transgender people choose to assign themselves as should not be something to be questioned. Evaluated sure, but I only say that due to some of the confusion related situations I've seen friends have over their gender identity. A person's sex however is a different story. The genetalia and body structure you have is what you have. It't not a bad thing, it is simply what you were born with. Societal ideals can change, physical attributes cannot without some degree of surgery (which at that point I don't see how'd there be confusion of their gender. There are some pretty damn good transition treatments out there which are very convincing). The conflict here is whether or not bathrooms separate the two because of [i]gender[/i] or [i]sex[/i]. If they are separated by gender, then trans people have full rights to use said facility because they are basing it off the gender that they assigned themselves. I will not factor in harassment or anything of the sorts because that should have consequence whether or not it is a male or female in the room. Gay people exist guys, it wouldn't just be a thing starting now. [i]However[/i], if it is based off of a persons [i]sex[/i], then there is a distinctive reason why they should not. Again this is not an issue of harassment more than it is simply using the wrong facilities to accommodate the genetalia you have. Urinals are made to accommodate people with dicks. Some womans bathrooms accommodate female hygiene products for the sake of catering [i]to their physiological needs[/i]. Not mental or societal. All this being said, I would prefer bathrooms being based upon sex rather than gender. Not for the sake that seeing a trans man in the bathroom with me would make me uncomfortable, but simply for the fact that [i]that particular facility[/i] accommodates people with male genetalia. All the hate here towards the trans society is unnecessary and rather dickish. If a person is harassing you, you should judge them [b]as a person[/b] and not simply by what gender they are or what they identify as. Everyone, despite orientations, is at as much equal fault for harassment as the next person.
