Destiny's age rating ( T for TEEN)
Why is basically everybody who play this game old???? (+18) Especially for clans, there are a lot of clans out there that are"adult only" which is stupid because this game was supposed to be for TEENS not older people.
(PS I'm actually 19 years old, I just wanted to see how people would react to this statement/ question) LOL My little brother gave me this idea.

I'm just going to say that I've encountered many kids in destiny. Doesn't necessary mean there are more kids but that they definitely play. On another note: Just because a game is rated T doesn't mean it's just for teens it's just supposed to give their parents an idea of what kind of game their kid is playing.

1 ReplyIt's simply a recommended minimum age that the ESRB people think someone should be, it's not who the game is designed for. Look at a Dora game, or something similar, and you will see an E for everyone rating this doesn't mean that it's marketed to everyone as I don't assume you or I would be the intended audience for the game. Look at movies too, just because something is rated PG-13 doesn't mean it's marketed to 13 year olds. Ratings have so much to do with reaching a larger audience and games/movies will often be labeled with a M/R rating when first rated. Companies will then decide if that rating will have strong enough sales with that rating and if not they will tone them down to reach a much broader audience.

The rating on a game nowadays does not at all dictate the audience it draws, unless the game is rated A for Adult. Otherwise, people just prefer to play with an older and more mature crowd, it's natural. I myself like to play with people 19+, not to say I don't have some mature 16 year olds on my friends list, it's just how some people roll, no issue with that. Have a nice day SA

Not to mention totally desensitize them to a number of topics which on the whole tends to be a bad thing. Simply put, we can play whatever we want. But at the same time, we're able to play games that you can't. Not without permission. Now, this isn't to say that I haven't encountered my fair share of mature kids. I don't have anything at all wrong with the young folk playing with me so long as they don't get annoying. The instant I hear "screaming" or stupid "teen" nonsense and I'm instantly out. Not a word given, just whip out the Ghost and head back to orbit. Don't even care how far I am in an activity, that kind of crap drives me nuts. And funny enough? The mature kids get irked by the same exact things too, so good on them. Case in point, AGE doesn't matter at all. A person's maturity level does.

What? I must assume you don't watch G, PG, or PG13 movies then and only stick to R. You realize that rating systems are meant to help parents make a better choice for what their kids play. Not to segment fan bases into age groups.

That's just the rating, it's for teens and up. Which means you have to be at least 13 to buy it. It doesn't mean that it was made specifically for teenagers. It's based of the content in there. That's like saying only teenagers can watch pg13 movies.

1 ReplySmash bros is rated E10+. Have you seen a smash tourney? I think it's incredible that Bungie was able to get an fps into the T rating at all considering the weight of the "video games cause violence" crowd. Do I think that Bungie could do more with an M rating? Possibly. But we have to remember that this is Activision territory and this game exists as the "mom won't buy me cod because I'm 12" alternative.

It's rated T for teens meaning you have to be at least teen to play it. Thinking the rating means only teens should be playing it is stupid. Immature posts like these are why adults choose to game with adults.

The teen rating is for the gameplay and story content. It says "online interactions not rated by the ESRB".

Teen and up, you should be more worried about squeakers playing than adults. I think you were supposed to check with your mom before you used the Internet... So go do that.
