Ok, I have yet to kill Skolas. Each time I have gone up against him, it has felt the same way. It feels tedious. It still does. I am doing it right now and I am just so annoyed of the friggin thing.
If it isn't wire rifles it is tracking bullets or skolas one shotting you in the face or some captain shrapneling two people or skolas magically appearing and killing everyone.
This is beyond annoyingly stupid and it is just not a fun challenge. I like a challenge, but this, while it is doable, is just not fun to do. We aren't even bothering after this last try until next week because today, it's nonsense. Angry? I know, let's just pee in your shoe and have you run around like that.
And guess what Bungie, after the first time, I have no interest in doing it again. That is why you screwed up. You made this and 34 so unfun that doing it isn't worth the time.

It all comes down to your teammates and your familiarity of the map and objectives. It can be done. I would suggest watching YouTube videos on it, because knowledge is power. P.s. The rewards aren't worth the struggle

2 RepliesEdited by pray02: 7/18/2015 5:21:28 PMThe 34 is also not fun for you?!!! Is it because it's too difficult for you as well?? Hahaha that's just sad.

7 RepliesI've beat him 20 times

i did it three times, Got all exotics. I am done. I dont give a shit about skolas anymore. Another bungie boss fail. Totally forced difficulty. Not even fun.

7 RepliesEdited by kendallhollo2012: 7/18/2015 3:13:59 PMCome on now I've beaten it 21 times! If I can beat it, so can everyone else. Found verdict is the most important weapon for 35.
-
1 ReplyYou don't need to beat him. You gain nothing. The weapons are crap. Once you reach light level 34 the game is over. Destiny's endgame is reaching the next light level. Weapons just happen to be along the way. Take away the shooting and killing and all you do is collect armor to reach a light level cap.
-
3 RepliesBut you get a 1 in 100 chance at a void shank burn assault rifle!!! Lol
-
Agreed. I luckily beat him when they still did the burns. The only reason to beat him is for the elder cipher bounties. I got the sniper and shotgun, the pistol aint worth the trouble of killing skolas
-
Sounds like a personal issue

I beat Skolas a few times. I don't feel like I should have to do it, again. I just got so tired of it. Being stuck at a level below is the worst part, I think. I decided to go back through Crota's End as a 34 and loved it. Tons of fun making a boss people had trouble with at one point cry like a bitch.

1 ReplyAgreed it's not fun anymore

It's incredibly tedious and being trapped at a level under doesn't help. It's all about killing ads and getting the rythym of passing the curse back and forth (which still doesn't make sense for a fallen enemy that seems more like a hive thing to do) I really hope that going forward they go back to vault hard mode style with the heroic modifier but on level with the cap. Being 29 was miserable and you couldn't take hits but that feeling of going through it as a 30 was the best.

Skolas isn't enjoyable for me at all. Beat him once just to get the emblem, shader and ship ( which I didn't even get) but I still would do a raid over Poe any day.

Listen to these strategies. On you get it down the whole thing takes less than an hour. I enjoy the fight, I think it's really communication oriented. They should add a checkpoint though.

1 ReplyI actually really like it. It's a bit unintuitive and can go long, but I really like the Skolas fight. Players have devised many ways to approach the fight, but what I find is a striking difference to other boss fights is you sort of have to forget Skolas is even there. After the servitor bonds stage of the fight, everything spawns at intervals of his health. So, make sure you clear all of the adds and deactivate all of the mines before you even think about damaging Skolas. Then, when it's time to hit him, make that attack coordinated. Once he starts spawning adds, lay off. This fight is more about defense and survivability than offense. Titan's should rock the bubble. Warlocks should rock the fireborn. And Hunters should rock max invisibility for being the medic. It's more of a juggling act than a fight.

2 RepliesI've run it twice, first week was with small arms and lightswitch. It was just tedious as it took too long to do any real damage. We gave up after the 4th wipe. Last week we only wiped once and beat him. It's mostly about timing and having a diverse fire team. Having a Titan defender with St-14 helps with the captains. Focus on the adds first before you go after Skolas. Getting him down to 50% health takes the longest. The last 50% you can bring down pretty quickly with heavies and snipers.

11 RepliesHe can't 1 shot you if you are max level

5 Repliesit's just the bullet sponge thing that bungle has instead of a decent AI. if you pay attention to the damage your weapons do to the enemies you will notice that some of the majors take literally dozens (if not more) times the damage you do while their weapons do dozens of times the damage to your character. this is because the AI is so bad that the only way the game isn't over in like five seconds is the huge skew in the armor and damage in favor of the computer enemies. what I want to know is if you can kill an enemy then why can't you take their weapons and armor and, if not use them directly, then figure out how to use that technology and be on their level?! it's just yet another design level no-brain mistake from the makers of this game...
-
Well maybe he issue is you're trying him as a level 33? Lol
-
1 ReplyDunno. I need nothing from it but i still enjoy it, nothing else really to do until ttk cones out
-
1 ReplyIt's not that hard bro if you know what you're doing. I've beat him a few times, and mostly what it comes down to is not dying and your entire team paying attention to the 3 things that matter
-
It used to be a fun challenge with the burns now it's boring.
