Once you get your crafted weapons to Lv30, there is no point for them to keep on leveling up... so I was thinking, hear me out... what if crafted weapons could gain extra perk slots like legendary weapons you focused with vendors???
Let's say at Lv50, you can invest mats to unlock a 2nd barrel slot, at Lv75 a 2nd Magazine slot, Lv100 2nd perk, Lv125 2nd perk #2... and so on every 25 levels until you unlock all 3 slots for barrels, mags, and perks.
I would be all in for the grind to optimize my crafted weapons.

I brought this up before. I think it would be great to keep leveling up weapons and use mats to unlock the perks that you can just switch on the fly. Might help to reduce having to craft multiple with different rolls and clutter the vault too.

That sounds like a good idea,I have two different crafted BxRs for PvP and one for PvE I’d love it if I could just use one instead.

15 RepliesEdited by escape1226: 1/9/2024 2:24:10 AMGet rid of crafting so the game actually has a purpose again. Red borders killed this game. But crafting armor sets, now that where it would have been awesome. set with great perks. But nah let just hand out god rolls like candy. it’s just boring and pointless now.

They're always worried about vault space taking up so much data. It just makes sense to let us craft multiple perk slots so those who want to have a selection to choose from can put it all on one weapon. We can get multiple perk slots on Adept weapons, I have a few myself, so I don't see a problem with this. I'd prefer it, really. Nice way to streamline and keep valuable space.

I was thinking about the craftable weapons system the other day, and I kinda noticed they just took the old weapon system from d1 and made it worse. Back then, you had to level up the weapon to unlock the perks on it (kinda like the crafting system now), but the perks would be on the weapon so you could switch them on the fly instead of going all the way back to the enclave every time. I think they should let us pick two perks in every slot (barrel and mag included), and we have to level up the weapon to unlock those perks on that weapon. It would start out pretty shitty, sure, with having no perks active, but eventually, it will become better the more you level it. If you level it up even further, eventually, you can upgrade the perks to the enhanced version with alloy back at the table. You would only go to the crafting table twice, once to build the gun and again to enhance the perks. The drawback, to keep it balanced, could maybe make it so you can't change the perks on the gun after you initially craft it so if you want to try a different set of perks you'd have make another gun.

You'd be insane if you want such a time sink. Many of us are fine with just a kill counter. Next thing you know, you'll be needing 10k+ kills to get that additional damage buff. For your prized weapon sure. But for all weapons in your rotation, you would be sick.

Bungie and crafted weapons had so much potential as an idea. So poorly implemented
-
It needs separate skins per 100 levels or something idk

There is no grind for crafted weapons. The only grind is getting patterns

5 RepliesCrafted weapons were one of the worst addons to the game. It took the fun out of chasing rolls, you know that if you get the god roll to drop that the crafted version is 'slightly' better and once crafted any other rolls you get are absolutely pointless. I don't think I ever saw anyone remotely ask for crafting.

I mean they said "they are going to look at" extra perks for crafted weapons to reduce weapon storage load in our vaults. That was 2 years ago. I guess the 3 developers who still actively work on this dead game have better things to do e.g. trying to bandaid fix a probably mediocre last expansion for the game before their entire rep is completely ruined. I don't expect any meaningful qol changes prior to FS because they simply shifted most devs away from D2.

If weapons levels are going to matter then character level should matter in PvP.

3 RepliesWhy would you even play long enough to get the levels that high?

2 RepliesThe higher the level the more powerful the gun should become imagine having a level 500 gun with a permanent 10% damage boost or a level 1000 gun with kill clip always activated (levels can’t be added in last wish)

I think what you suggested is endless better and more doable than people suggesting you get damage buffs lmao. Good suggestion.

2 RepliesSupposedly at level 20 all stats gain a small buff, but it doesn't show anywhere. It could be cool if at level 100 you could invest ascendant alloys to convert it to adept.
-
Eh, I remember making a prestige system based on Warframe model 1. You use ascendant alloy to reset level (prestige) 2. You have options upon a prestige reset - reduced mod cost one one slot (-10% per rank, up to 50%) - an extra perk slot - targeted perk reroll That way you can prestige endlessly to make your beast of a gun
-
I think it's cool idea, but ONLY if mat leveling is capped at 30.
