I can ignore many things, but this game takes the cake.

Edit: added TLDR. New player. Just started the other day, I'm at 1025 atm (whatever that means), and my mind = blown. This has to be the WORST multiplayer experience I've ever had, and trust me I'm not exaggerating. I went in without any expectations, in fact they were negative. But not even in my dreams could I expect such incompetence displayed on an iterated product with 4 years behind it. No tutorial. Ok, i can live with that. Read the tooltips, check the key binds and off I go. But the rest requires either clairvoyance or constant googling. Hell, in many cases even that didn't help. Why would you send me on strikes 20 minutes in? Cool missions, sure. But they reward umbral engrams...so after capping my inventory I had to spend 4 hours trying to get a quest from that clown by the engram trash compactor, which turned out to be a waste of time in Gambit where I get matched vs 1070 players in game mode with enabled level advantages. Then another 2 hours trying to get Contact done, or more precisely to get the failure registered so I get the necessary part. Ok cool, you know... I let that go. So now I have to go on a raid. Is there any matchmaking? No! Shocked as I was, I figured it not be that big of a deal if I ignore that for the time being. Then there's a dungeon with 9 things in it, that also has no matchmaking. It wasn't long before I realized that there's no LFG or even a Global chat channel in the game! Just a pathetic /local that nobody reads, because you don't join by default! I'm amazed. You have a 4 year old multiplayer co-op mmo type of game with ZERO community tools in it! How? Please someone explain the logic to me, I can't even find a clan. Hell I can't even whisper to people in the open world! Some guy was looking for a chest, I found it but I ended up having to show him the path with a rifle, right after getting his attention with 4 cluster rockets.... I figured eh maybe on Discord. Yeah, 300k server good luck! Discord isn't made to be a matchmaking software; the server was overloaded for 12+ hours when I tried to join. So I dug deeper and what do my eyes see? An APP! I was half expecting to have to start sending emails to people asking if they would like to team up! And worse still, the Browse Clans part doesn't even work lol! I'm literally laughing as I'm writing this. Usually I can chuckle at a bad model, animation, sound or poor voice acting and writing (of which D2 definitely has an entire pile of gems, but I won't get into that because my face is tired), but this is the first time I find myself laughing in disbelief at the choices being made by the user experience department. I can forgive the fact that I can't just pick up bounties straight from the map before mission select, and have to load the tower every time I want to do something different. I can ignore the fact that there's a ton of currencies/tokens that barely excuse their existence. I can brush off the bad writing and the atrocious delivery. I can put aside the lack of direction at the start. But this... this is just the pinnacle of lazy design; making me jump through hoops just to get a PUG going. "Hey we have a multiplayer game, do you think we should include communication systems to enable players to contact one another?" "Nah, let them sort it out on their own. If Discord doesn't cut it, we can put one of our interns to develop a phone app." "You mean like on Google Play and iOS?" "Yeah! Everyone has a phone right? Worked well for Blizzard!" I can envision this conversation happening somewhere in Bungies HQ. I don't know who, why or how; but I will remember Destiny 2 as the most unpleasant multiplayer new user experience I've ever had. It's not technical problems on launch, or a badly designed system... it's the total absence of it that just amazed me. Bravo TLDR: New player. First quest after tutorial is to go on a strike - can't unlock umbrals. Getting the machine unlocked requires a seer. Can't get a PUG going in game without external software. Not all missions have matchmaking. No LFG chat; dead /local. Wow.
