I have played many control matches, trial of osiris and other modes but the issue is the opponents are always overly strong. I have won 1 match in two weeks. I noticed the efficiency (stats after the end of crucible matches) of my team is around 1.1 average while the opponents have like 1.8 average. I am not an expert in crucible but losing every match with a large difference in kills really upset me. I won’t even play crucible, Bungie literally forced me to play to try my luck on some catalyst as they drop from crucible and need crucible kills to unlock. Also, warlocks are noticeably weak, why they are matched against sliding titan and invis hunter. Both of the classes are designed to dominate crucible so pitting warlocks against them is like setting foxes in a chicken farm. Warlock class requires excellent skills to even compete with those two classes so warlocks shouldn’t be matched against them. I know hunters and titans need sheep to increase their kill count but come on Bungie, don’t let the crucible newbies to be the “sheep”. Anyone would lose interest on crucible matches if this kinda matchmaking is not improved. My clans have many conquerer titles but 3/4 of them don’t even have immortal adept, they don’t play crucible at all now as they have their catalysts done. I want to improve seriously but if I keep getting shot before even being able to shoot the opponent, anybody would naturally quit after sometime. I am not sure if crucible is meant for pro only but if it is then I am sorry in advance.

The terrible matchmaking started when SBMM was added when the problem was (and still is) nearly entirely group size based.

3 RepliesI agree OP. I'm a complete noob that only started playing in May this year, pretty much all PVE. Last few weeks had a few goes at the crucible, first was team scorched just to break my duck as I knew that was lighthearted and last weekend a few runs in rumble as I prefer to disappoint myself instead of a whole team. Spent most of the time being one-shot and respawning. Yes, the experienced players know the maps, have great armour and weapons and are very skilled, I have no problem with that, I respect them ... but I don't want to play against them ... I want to play against other noobs and slightly better players so I can learn something, so I can "git better". Too many guardians on here just give you the "skill issue" troll, I do believe there are many skilled players that want to keep things as they are so they can farm solo noobs like me. Needless to say I'll probably not be doing much crucible unless I decide to accept a few friend requests and run a private match.

Edited by EventHorizon_16: 10/24/2023 6:25:25 PMI initially thought that the Festival had something to do with the Crucible. A lot of folks losing their exotics for masks. Then, I remembered Bungie saying, they think they have figured out the matchmaking. So, I assume, this is the new matchmaking (Control). Looks like two good players on each team, then two mediocre, then two bad players. I've been looking at folks ranks ahead of time. Gives you some inidication of experience and ability. Stay frosty out there!

1 ReplyEdited by Auronio: 10/24/2023 9:51:10 AMI admit it is/was very veeeeyry bad the last few days. Currently it is SBMM connection times but CBMM matchmaking rules in QP control. My perception. And likely in other modes as well which I tested such as dynamic control and checkmate rumble. Whatever Bungie changed and it's obvious they changed something, skill levels matched against each other are completely out of order. I am best case average, rather below average with Silver III in Competitive. But I can reach a slight 1.2-1.3 KDA in Crucible. Of course due to formerly loose SBMM. Now? How come I am matched to guys w/ 328k Crucible kills, 29 Crucible resets, 9 Trials resets this season w/ 1.127 won Trials matches - THIS season going for endless kill streaks??? Glorious and Flawless and Platinum+ top players left and right in the same lobby with the usual cannon fodder. I reckon that's the standard in Trials. But not in supposedly/purported skill based QP control. Whatever it is in control right now, it's certainly no longer SBMM. Not in the slightest. Bottom line - Bungie messed up again. Imho

Its about as far from Pro as you can get really. Its the shonky 2004 P2P model that causes most of the problems.

I don't know what the hell they're doing, but halfway through a match one team starts tanking all damage, supers do virtually nothing, yet there doesn't appear to be any lag in their animations. Whenever this happens I notice that the match never counts toward bounties and kills don't count towards catalysts. My network has been tested repeatedly and it's excellent. All players are able to continue playing, but one team starts dealing and tanking massive amounts of damage. Almost like "rubberbanding" AI in racing games.

I have a mixed experience. Since SBMM was introduced in quickplay overall I find things better (less stompings). I don’t think there is anything that wrong in losing games big every now and again. Or even having a bad run of a few matches in a row. It must be very difficult to consistently match evenly. Also, players genuinely can be very inconsistent from match to match themselves. Especially at the “lower level” I inhabit. I know I am. Some days I am on it and hit my headshots and move well, others I am like a clown walking over a minefield. I have also noticed that fairly regularly a guardian on rank 5 will rock up and slay out spectacularly. You can tell instantly by their movement they are very good. You wonder how they get in a lobby with the likes of me, and they can totally skew a match and make their teammates look good. I see it as a challenge when my team is outclassed. I try and get a positive KD even though we get munched. I enjoy quickplay, I know I’ll never be great, but so what. It’s a game. Gotta have fun.

1 ReplyEdited by brigs_PS: 10/24/2023 5:02:25 AMI can say match making is terrible. I’ll have 20 + kills with 6.0 kda and rest of my team is .8 while the other team is all over 2.0 kda at end of game.

3 RepliesYour opinion on Warlock vs. Titan vs. Hunter is out of touch. Skill based matchmaking is strictest in Competitive. Play Competitive for even teams and more even lobbies. What catalyst requires you to play PVP?

Funny enough, I have an 18% win percentage this season and can’t get above a 1.3, when I used to live at 1.7/1.8ish. I struggle to keep above a 1.0 most games. Just feels brutal.

Ok first things stop taking destiny pvp so seriously….especially control ! Control is all or nothing now , use whatever you find fun or enjoy using . Try to play with people who play alot to improve your play 🤷🏼♂️

16 RepliesGotta be a troll post. Gr8 b8, m8! My former clan has a 70 year old that consistently wins or holds their own in Crucible. Really cool guy too! This just screams lack of talent and no intention to improve.

Edited by Manic: 10/23/2023 4:30:40 PMThere is sbmm in every playlist but trials. You can go to destiny tracker and even see that your last few matches were projected to be close to a 50/50 chance or were in your favor.
-
1 ReplyTrials is basically the loot mode. They shower players with loot to keep them playing. Best to play when there is a high player count. Wait until there is a solo queue and/or some reason for a larger amount of players to play. Or find some better players to help you get some wins. COMP is the competitive list to play. The rest of the playlists are CBMM which are wildly mixed matches. (People seem to miss this, but read the descriptions) Control is broken this week I think. When I play I see a very wide gap of players ELO 600-1800... something like that. I'm not sure if it's low population numbers or a bug in the system. Bungie did mention that something was wrong after reset, but I didn't see anything after that to confirm that it was fixed or not. Matchmaking times have been a bit slow. bounties, bounties, bounties.... I don't care what they do with PVP, I would just like a 6v6 list where I can get my bounties done or change the bounties to progress from completing matches.

2 RepliesIf you're newer and want to improve Trials might not be the best place to start. Control or possibly one of the rotator modes would be a better place to learn how to deal with the other classes because there's not as much on the line. In trials you're basically going from 0 to 100 in terms of the kinds of players you're going to face and how hard they're going to be trying.

Let paraphrase the mayor of London.
blowout matches are just part and parcel of playing a game like destiny
Yeah but for real matchmaking is unbalanced.
-
3 RepliesJust curious are you a newer player? Game has sbmm to try and mitigate the experience you are having but they also implement a very and form of lobby balancing. Games been out for so long it can be very difficult for new players to find their groove in pvp. All you can really do practice and try to cobble together some meta builds. Try rumble maybe as it will help you with 1v1 engagements

20 RepliesAm I looking at it correctly when I’m reading you have 943 lifetime kills?
