There are so many missions that force me into PvP, be it Crucible or Gamit.
I really do not enjoy the current PvP meta where kills are 1-2 hits (at least for the enemy it seems).
I understand PvP is a part of the game, but does it really have to be THAT much of the game? Is there so little unique content that you have to rely on replayable PvP maps and FORCE people to do PvP, even if they don't like it because they are no good at it?
Yes I am no good at PvP. I'm old, my eyes are not that good, my reaction times are not what they used to be 30 years ago and my eye-hand-coordination on a controller isn't great either. No, it's not going to massively improve either. So most of the exotic missions I have are essentially pointless because even if I were able to, for example, kill 25 people in PvP with a hand cannon with precision shots, I definitely would not enjoy it. Absolutely not! So why this constant focus on PvP?
I understand many of the good players will say stuff like "Git good" or something like that. But to be honest, I am not going to get much better at PvP. And therefore I am never going to enjoy PvP that much.
It makes me groan whenever I see a bounty that says "kill (x) of (y) in Crucible/Gambit", really it makes me cringe.
I wish that for any of the coming seasons or game versions, there would be a bit more focus on people that do not massively enjoy PvP and maybe offer alternatives.
And please, if you really enjoy PvP and don't agree, please be constructive. Instead, imagine instead you were forced to play solo PvE for many of the bounties.

1 ReplyWhy even bother grinding for great weapons/armor anyway? Bungo will only nerf them in a month or two anyway.

1 ReplyEdited by mercuryserver: 6/11/2019 1:00:06 PM@ ArsenicIndigo I am in the exact same boat with one difference. Although I am old, don't see clear anymore and everything else you mentioned is true for me too (50 years old), I would like to play PvP - sometimes. But the way it's designed in D2, it's no fun and has lead me to now only playing PvP when it's Iron Banner and at least a few casual players are playing. My biggest problem is how that mode is not separated in the Game. For Bungie, PvE and PvP seems to be the same. Well for me, as soon as there is a PvP step in a quest, I know it will take me 10 times longer than it will take for regular Crucible players. And for Christ's sake, neither do I want to do PvP stuff when I follow a PvE quest nor do I enjoy it when I am forced to. And the only advice you get from the community is to "git gud". But like the OP, I won't get that much better. I played enough Games to know that I will somehow remain on my level without making crazy jumps because I played 20 games more. Not going to happen, in opposite, my reaction time will get worse over the next Years. Solution number 1 (for me) would be to separate PvP from PvP. Make one vendor, Shax and whatever he has is PvP related. Sometimes it's Shax and Saladin. Stop incorporating PvP goals into PvE quests and stop mixing these two modes at all. I neither want to see nor hear about PvP stuff outside of talking to Shax or Saladin. Solution number 2 is a way more complex one and a solution where I think Bungie is against it and it's not their philosophy. It's about the mode itself. For me, an ideal PvP mode is COMPLETELY separated from PvE modes. Stats, gear, skills. Independent to get rid of any balancing problems in advance. No shared gear that is OP for one of the modes and receives a nerf for one mode that also affects the other. The Game matchmaking sucks really bad and people with blue weapons are setup against players with Not Forgotten. Stacked teams run against casual solo players. I have not seen a more ridiculous PvP mode than here in D2. Letting fight a pit bull against a poodle is quite odd. "Enjoy your Game, bro". My goal would be to not offer any advantages for players (like Pinnacle and God roll weapons or specialised Resilience/Mobility gear)), same setup for everybody and any advantage you may earn must be earned during the match itself. Like picking up a Sniper weapon as the 1st because you know where it spawns. When I started to play, PvP was a good mixture of experienced players and casuals. But nowadays, there are much fewer casuals left in PvP. Gambit is completely dead (in terms of casuals) by now, the vast majority playing it are sweats and people with a lot of experience that will just crush any causual team they meet. Gambit Prime has made the gap worse because now, not only have the players more experience, no, now they also have gear sets that give them even more advantages. I fear PvP in Crucible will follow the same route. A mode completely abandoned from casuals because there is no way to play against people in their own league. I wouldn't mind to wait 5 minutes for a match to start knowing that my opponents will be at least in a similiar league than I am. Don't tell me you couldn't find them. When I have played 5 games per week as a middle value over several months, don't group me with players who play 200 games per week. Just to give you an (exxagerated) example. But this is an endless topic and my response got way longer than initially intended so I better shut up here lol.

3 RepliesEdited by Quirky_Honor: 6/11/2019 6:01:09 AMWell, the overwhelming amount of research on neural plasticity indicates that you could improve with practice; however, I don't blame you for not enjoying PVP, nor do I think adding more PVE content to allow players more freedom is a negative. In fact, separate development teams would be beneficial because of the core values for each game type.

2 RepliesI saw the bounty today and said f that... won’t be doing 10 crucible bounties....

You aren't forced into doing anything. You're choosing not to do it. You can't complain when you can't get a reward when you refuse to play the content

2 RepliesI'm a PvP player and I shouldn't be forced to run lost sectors, strikes, or raids. Get off it, no one cares.

I'm forced into too much pve

Edited by olly5656: 6/13/2019 6:10:36 AMSaid it once I’ll say it again If you consider yourself a “Destiny PvPer” or play Destiny solely for the PvP you’re doing it so wrong you should be put in jail

2 RepliesEdited by PRIME_-LeGEND: 6/12/2019 10:37:32 PMBungie could do this: When you make a new character, choose if you can ONLY play pve/pvp or a mix of the two. Then the quests can be designed to cater to our preferences. So lets say i chose pve only on my new warlock -can only play pve and cant transfer gear from my warlock to other characters (unless pve only for one or more characters). I dont know the lore implications of this, sooo

1 ReplyRunning 3 nightfalls with handicap plus getting 60 rocket launcher kils, hunting down 5 artifacts to make sure all ascendant platforms appear!!, get 60 kills with a rocket launcher while adcendent on Nessus, find a downed Corsair badge etc. You think PVP players should have to do this sort of PVE shit for PvP weapon? Makes me cringe when quest steps like this !!
-
Rofl you’re not forced to do anything. If you want the reward you’ll get over it and grind it out.
-
if you really hate PvP THAT much, then you never should have picked up a Bungie game. If you want a PvE focused looter shooter, just play Borderlands or Fallout, or literally anything other than a Bungie game.

Well, Truths questline involved zero PvP, despite being a PvP weapon... I dont mind PvP too much myself. I used Crimson for the Hand Cannon headshots, it feels like a short range pulse rifle so its much more forgiving. Best general advice I can give you is shadow the best player on your team, shoot who they shoot, maybe even watch their six.

2 RepliesForced.... 😂

Edited by Hazel: 6/12/2019 6:21:21 PMIf you were to count up all of the non pinnacle weapon quest steps that require PvE and the ones that require pvp a disproportionately high amount would require PvE. You don't even need to count them to realize this.

1 ReplyIts literally half the game.

Pvp people are forced to play pve quests to get weapons lol.

Yeah "forced"...

1 ReplyI haven't played crucible in 8 months or so. I just do without whatever it may provide. It doesn't bother me.
-
10 RepliesThe quest should always offer PvP/PvE way to finish. Hate headshots in PvP? Well go headshot some orange/yellow bars and continue with your journey!

I was doing the weekly gunsmith bounty, got all the strike and Gambit kills, went into PvP and got sniped 6 times in a row, then supered for the remainder of the match, just deleted the bounty instead. Not worth it.
-
So what your saying, is someone from bungie contacted you, then came to your house and said you must play PvP or else. Those animals.
-
It's not that much of the game. An overwhelming majority of content is pve focused.
-
3 RepliesI don’t get why you guys think you NEED to play PvP. Sure to required for particular weapons but most of those weapons are practically meant for solely PvP. If you want to collect everything in the game well then you should develop your skills in every part of the game. It just takes time to get better at crucible.
