This series is meant to be an easily digestible, simplified, short, and somewhat entertaining lore ‘crash course’ for those who want to learn more without wading through grimoire.[/spoiler] —— So, you’re here; you’ve read the title. You want to know about space rhinos. [u]I know about space rhinos[/u]. Let me impart of my rhino-esque knowledge. *Ahem* The Cabal. [b]History[/b] So, uh, this is awkward. We don’t know the Cabal homeworld’s name, simply because THE ACTUAL EMPORER OF THE CABAL [b]FORGOT[/b]. Not even kidding. The same emporer also moved the Cabal capital from this homeworld to the planet Torobatl. [spoiler]Psions are a completely different race. They once fought for the Cabal but now work alongside them.[/spoiler] This emporer, Calus, had an affinity for opulence (gold, wine, etc). Since he liked shiny things so much, [u]why not make an entire fleet that’s shiny[/u]? Calus reasoned that showing off his empire’s wealth and power would stop threats before they arose. Alas, Calus had several flaws. He drank too much wine, probably hung out on the couch a [i]little[/i] too much, and, you know, had a nasty habit of ruthlessly assassinating those who displeased him. Dominus Ghaul (the Cabal, the myth, the legend) lead a conspiracy against him, placing the ex-Emporer into a ship with a pre-set course. And the rest is a raid, [b]The Leviathan[/b]. [b]Space Rhinos (aka Cabal)[/b] Alright. Now down to business. When in battle, Cabal prefer a slow, steady march. They also excel and holding positions and following orders to the letter. Mutiny or insubordination are punished by exile or a calm shot to the head. The Cabal war machine is divided into divisions known as [b]Legions[/b]. An obvious example is the [b]Red Legion[/b]. [i]Woah, really? Never thought of that![/i] Each legion has its own goal and is deployed to different areas, lead by a commander known as a [b]Primus[/b]. [spoiler]Cabal legions can be divided further into, from largest to smallest, cohorts, centuries, maniples, and squads. This setup is identical to ancient Roman legions, which leads many to believe the Cabal may be part of a video game.[/spoiler] Cabal who prove themselves in battle can earn different titles of varying rank. Generally, from lowest to highest, these are: Bracus, Val, Valus, and Primus. Speaking of the military, it’s the real deal. Apparently, in the Cabal language (Ulurant), there’s SIX words for ‘advance’, and none for ‘retreat’. You’d think that impairs communication, but hey, I’m not a space rhino. Additionally, when they go to war, they’re actually exiled out of the Empire; the only way to return is for victory. Fun fact. It’s not uncommon to see female Cabal on the battlefield. In fact, One ‘[b]Primus of All Legions[/b]’ (the leader of the Cabal military), was female. —— And I thought this post would be easy. Dang deep Destiny lore! [b]Knowledge is power.
