Seeing as diablo 3 was announced 4 years before release, i am calling BS on your statement of blizzard not announcing until it is ready. Diablo 3 was announced/teased in 2008, and wasnt released until 2012. So they most certainly announce things well before they are ready.

...and look how badly D3 lauched. Four years created hype and expectations that the game couldn't meet. ...and if you don't think that is having an impact on how they handle the development of D4, you're being naïve. Diablo 3 was one of the worst launches of a high-profile AAA games from an respected developer.....until Destiny came around 2 years later. Diablo 3 was a dying game until Reaper of Souls came out.

Pretty sure that diablo 3 would have had a bad launch with or without the hype. Those 4 years didnt magically make the game what it was, with or without the hype it still would not have been very good and would not have been received well. Even if diablo 3 launched the year it was announced it would still have been a flop, those 4 years really didnt change that fact.

StarCraft 2 would like to have a word with you. I bet they announced Diablo 3 then because the story itself was flushed out and ready but not the actual game itself.

Well seeing as we are talking about diablo and my reference is about diablo itself, i would go with my comparison being the much stronger one. Pretty sure that storyline changed at least a little during those 4 extra years. Also it doesnt take a storyline to show a title card. Then there is also the fact that this mobile game they showed isnt ready either. They have no release date, the general mechanics are still very much in development. It is by no means ready, which they stated. So your argument kind of falls through.
