So I received a pre-buit PC as a gift for Christmas, it's some CyberTron brand one. Anyway the RAM is fine, but the Video Card and CPU aren't the greatest. I'm looking at this motherboard called the
ASRock H97M PRO4 mATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150 Motherboard
(Spoiler for it's long name) and do you think this would be good? My budget is in the lower area and really I just want to be able to play Skyrim with lots of mods and not worry about framerate. Any good, yet cheaper video cards? Specs Currently:
AMD A4-6300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics AMD Radeon HD 8370D (Video card)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

3 RepliesOk. So that Motherboard is for intel cpus. Theyre more expensive but better. Not to say AMD chips suck. If you are looking to save money, I would go with an AMD CPU. I got an FX 8320 and its been treating me well. Since you currently use an APU (Theyre like a CPU and GPU in one. Like consoles). You will need a separate gpu. And like before AMD is cheaper than Nvidia, but Nvidia cards usually run a little bit better.

Oof, I don't want to be that guy, but that build is not so great. If you can fit an evga superclocked in there then you could play almost any game. But it won't last

You currently don't have a discrete GPU. Since your main interest is playing Skyrim and it is a pretty old game, I would recommend adding a discrete GPU into your system and testing that before upgrading your CPU and Motherboard.

Edited by Progo: 1/28/2016 4:03:31 AMLogicalincrements.com and pcpartpicker.com will both help here. Your issues are because your PC has an AMD APU and not an actual GPU slotted in separately. Once you add a decent budget one (like a GTX 750ti) you'll get much better performance. Though you may want to get an AMD card if you are going to stick with an AMD processor, just to keep things organized.
