Just Saw The Most Amazing Thing
I was on earth down where the 3 Hive spawn, and all of a sudden I encounter two brand new level 2 guardians. They were obviously New Christmas Guardians because they were exploring all over, awestruck by the awesome graphics and the detail in the darkened old subway tunnels. They were also enamored by my level 31 warlock (who has all level 32 gear) and kept pointing at me as if to say 'I want to be like you one day and one day I will get there'. At one point I just stood back and watched them explore down there. It was cute. It was like watching baby Gazelles running around playfully for the very first time in their lives. Welcome new Guardians. I hope you have just as much joy as I have had from this amazing game.
Edit 1: Thank you for all the replies and I hope any new Guardians reading this know the kindness of many of us Guardians and I hope it makes you feel welcome.

Yeah I saw one yesterday venture into the subway tunnels. He was a brave little guardian, he saw those three notorious Hive and knew what had to be done...you will be missed "chupa something".

I had a similar experience, however, it was a lonesome lvl 3 guardian. He wandered down in the tunnels when I was completing my kill 10 hive majors bounty. The hive spawned in and he engaged them... I just kind of sat back wishing I had some popcorn. Let's just say it was almost instant when I was dancing on the orb of his dead body. XD Welcome to Destiny you Christmas noob!

True to Hunter fashion, I just stayed on a wing of a plane with my P&T equipped and watched them through the scope. Provided a little cover fire once. Then we hit a public event together and managed to get them their first gold tier rating. We waved at each other and went our separate ways.

I was on my way to a mission on the Moon and stopped to get the Warsat event. Some lvl 4-5 guys were there. I helped them, they waved, were happy and all. Then the Blades of Crota event began. The noobs pointed, got on their sparrows and ran like crazy. Lol, I still remember the day I was afraid of a lvl 10 enemy.

Saw a group of 3 level 3's yesterday hoppin around the cosmodrome. Looks like they decided to team up. I danced and they didn't know how I was doing it so they kept squatting up and down haha. It made me remember how I felt the first time I saw someone dance.

Maybe they were pointing because you had some TP hanging out of your robes? ;) In all seriousness, I saw the same lately. I looked to see if they were just new characters from old players...but no. No Grimoire at all. New and having fun. I remember that feeling from the Beta days.

11 RepliesI remember my very first patrol mission. I had no idea what to do, so I grabbed a beacon and follow it through towards the divide. As soon as I go there I saw this giant tank thing in the center of it, and there was this single guardian fighting it. He was gliding through the air jumping around in circles while firing at it, until he finally jumped up on top of this radio tower. Suddenly he exploded in a burst of flame and it looked like he had wings of fire sprouting from his back as he started throwing these balls of flame one after the other on to the tank. Finally it shuddered one last time and collapsed to the ground. All the swarms of enemies faded away, and the guardians glided down from his tower slowly walked towards where I had been hiding is about to pass me and stops. I am staring at him not knowing what is going on or if he is going to hurt me or what when suddenly he starts dancing. I coughed so hard my control fell out of my hands and landed on the cat. I wish I knew that Warlock's name, because he deserves it. God I really love this game at moments.

2 Repliesi was in the shack near the spot your talking that has the 6 falllen that spawn and i came across 2 lvl 3s getting killed by the fallen. i just had happened to kill a sword of crota so i though id lend a hand. in about 5 seconds all the fallen were dead and they were just staring at me in amazement. welcome to destiny xmas noobs.

We all waved and went our separate ways. It reminded me of the days when "Reaver" Anything was "bad news" instead of "yellow target".

Yesterday I was sitting on top of the tall roof in steppes and I put my controller down to go get some food, came back to 2 level 3s surveying me, I'm proud of them for getting up there and yes thank you the Hunter raid gear is incredibly sexy.

Seeing a lot of lower levels suddenly flooding the maps, obviously new players, and I'll sometimes stop and watch them go around and fight things. Also just to lend a hand if they are getting overwhelmed with something. It's actually quite amusing.

1 ReplySome players were dreading the influx of new Guardians, calling them "Christmas noobs." I was actually looking forward to their arrival. I love seeing all the new, lower level players on the open fields. I remember what it was like at that level, how everything was new and exciting, and I envy them, all that they are to discover and explore. I help when I can, pointing out chests, Gold Chests, Dead Ghosts, or cover fire if they're in trouble. I wish someone had done that for me. If you've ever taken a visitor or tourist on a tour of your hometown, you get to watch their thrill of discovery, and you get to relieve some of your own, long-lost feelings and memories. I live close to Disneyland, and I love taking first-timers there. That's how I feel towards the fresh-faced Guardians. Welcome new Guardians!

8 RepliesYou're nicer than me. I found 2 lvl 3 guardians at the Cosmodrome. Pointed and danced to get their attention. Then led down the stairs and stopped just before the room where the lvl 18 hive majors spawn. I pointed to the room, they went in, I watched with enjoyment.

Threads that start with "just saw the most amazing thing" rarely end up describing an amazing thing. But I lol'd. Nice. New guardians are welcome for sure.

I had a similar experience except the guardian in question had the misfortune of finding the lvl 20 hive that spawn below the start area. But I kept him in the fight long enough for me to kill the hive.

I was sitting and looking at a level 2 doing his stuff when the event appears (tenebrion) the guy join me and stand next to me. When the public event started i placed my defender bubble on him and I went to kill the tenebrion by myself. after this, i disapeared to an other spot for an other public event. i didnt wait for any recognition

I was in the Mothyards earlier today when a Warsat came crashing down. I was the only one there, so I start up the event, and about 60% of the way through, a level 3 comes over a wrecked plane and joins. We manage to beat it, of course, but not without me having to revive him a few times. So we finish, and I wave to him and then dance, and he didn't seem to even know how to respond. He figured it out after some pressing of random buttons, though. Then I find some spin metal, start shooting him and pointing at it. He seemed confused and just shot me back, so I pointed at it again and then collected it so it would glow so he'd know what I was pointing to, and thus he got it too, probably for the first time. Then a Blade of Crota spawns, he gets wrecked by it several times, so I Nova Bomb it and give him a new sword as well, and off he went.

I encountered a few myself they we trying to kill the hive on earth mainly the sword bearer and I was like why not I ran down there popped off a Gjallarhorn round and dropped it and I pointed to the sword one of them picked it up and was just going to town I do enjoy helping the new guys out

I spotted some noobs in the Rocketyards on Earth yesterday....revived them a few times and ended up handing them a sword of Crota - it was fun to see them run around tearing sh*t up with the sword and dying as soon as it was gone....lol. I wish the sword was available on Patrol on Earth at launch, that would have probably blown my mind.
