As a female Destiny player I am finding that sexual harassment is a growing issue, especially in the tower. From the first week Destiny came out, I have experienced harassment ranging from receiving messages of a sexual nature (to the point of having to block people to get them to stop) to having groups of characters surround and hump my character (moving does nothing, as they follow me around the tower and continue until I leave the tower).
Obviously Bungie can't control the players. I get that. But when I report the players for sick behavior like this, the most I can report them for is being "unfriendly." Can we get a specific sexual harassment option for times like this?
Edit: Judging by the responses to my post, the harassment is not just in game. I'm getting plenty on here, and I anticipate I'll have plenty of similar messages when I log into the game later. Speaking out has made me more of a target, and I expected that. This is exactly the reason so many women choose not to speak out against this kind of behavior.

Noooooo the white knights made a zombie post nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately, there are a lot schmucks out there. And chances are, a good percentage of 'em play Destiny. Sorry ya had to experience that!

What is wrong with you

3 RepliesHonestly nobody cares. Because you know what, SUCK IT UP. It's just a game, and you'll never see these people in real life. By creating this post, you are just drawing in attention for yourself. WHY??? Because you enjoy it. Now, stop complaining and move on and play the game like the rest of us. Do you honestly think anyone is going to compensate or feel bad for you? There are people with much more important problems that what you have. So I tell you again, stop making such a big deal.

From my experience.... The tower is the only place I really witness unruly actions. But I've played with a lot of females on Destiny. Surprisingly there are a lot of females on Destiny. ( good) but because the younger guys who play games have never learn how to treat women with respect they act like idiots.

Sorry to hear that :'-(( I like being sexually harassed ://
-
Unfortunately teenage pubescent boys act like total fvcktard b!tches in the presence of a female especially when it's through the anonymity of the Internet. A report button that you said is good on paper but said fvcktard b!tch boys would just abuse it, most likely against the ones it's there for!

no advice for ya. Act like a guy i guess
-
I'm going to be honest, out of all my raids where I recruited from forums I have only played with one female. This community is really male heavy and some guys I've played with definitely seem like they'd be douchebags or really thirsty like to women ..

This post was almost a year ago guys, not sure who dug it back up. But yeah, it is a problem. Just not one that is easily fixed. Two of my fireteam members are female and get this with almost every tower visit. FYI though if you report the message on Xbox and comment that it was sexual harassment, the person will get an account ban. Weirdly enough I'm a guy and had a guy doing it to me. Kept sending me voice messages saying stuff like "oh yeah do me baby" and "f*ck me baby" Don't report through Destiny, they won't do anything.

4 RepliesI'm a female gamer, usually don't care for the tea-bagging in the tower. If I get an unfriendly message, it gets deleted immediately and if they continue to contact me, I block them. But I wouldn't call it harassment. No offense.
-
How can people even tell? Over half of female characters are played by guys. Try your best to remember it's only a game honey.
-
I tbag afk players or people who sit down but i get bored after about ten seconds
-
Just going to throw this out here, EVERYONE has experienced the T-bag party in the tower. It's not because you are female, it's a bored fireteam who for no apparent reason decided to bag AFK/in inventory players. Happens to me (clearly states in my PSN i am a dude) and it happens to all my buddies. And with any video game you will find the childish asshats who seem to be bothering you, block them as you have been and move on 9/10 times they are going to be a 12 - 15 year old anyway.

Harassment is not cool. Bullying is not cool. The law is the law. Bungie need to ninja those who break the law.

7 RepliesBy law, this is not sexual harassment. Women always feel like they can just scream harassment. Like in real life for example, it's not my responsibility as a man to orevent myself from staring at your boobs if they are being flaunted. That's YOUr fault for wearing enticing clothes. Yes, tower jumping is a little immature, but honestly, so is calling it sexual harassment....

6 RepliesAs a fun experiment, I(male) made a titan(female) and kept track of every form of sexual harassment my character went through on a notepad, 126 teabaggers in the tower, 14 people who wouldnt stop following her around, 3 death and or -blam!- threats, and 17 messages saying something like "nice ass" or "bitch make me a sandwich" And im not even a girl, hell, my gamertag is mainman.

Just take lady out of your name they'll never know your a lady problem solved not many people are in game chat then no one would know you were a women or just go to the reef

1 ReplyEdited by Mota JooBot: 10/25/2015 9:31:17 PMYa its not always sexual harassment you know, i hump everyone in the tower equally. Its not really sexual for me, more about saying "hi, im a troll with nothing better to do than teabag people in the tower for lulz right sneu" Some players are probably targeting you tho. Shame. Take solice in the fact that they are dumb kids, who have probably never touched boobs before and probably never will.
-
I've experienced it in these forums. I'll report it yet the crude, sexual harrassment posts are ignored by the ninjas.
-
Try and ignore the hate, best thing 2 do. To bad u recieve gross messages.. My girlfriend plays and she never gets anything like that, i guess it depends on your local gaming community. (Where you come from) I do suggest that you try not to take tea bagging to seriously, its something that gets done in jest. I literally bag my friends in the tower every day. If they die in the raid, i stop what im doing and dash in for the blocking style sword bag immediately. Or maybe ill be take my hunter in for an invisibag.. or go with my warlock, bag em till i die and self rez for that zombie bagging. All in the name of good fun;) I draw the line at gross messages tho, that pisses me off. Im sorry u have to spend so much time blocking people instead of playing.
-
I you'll get sexually harassed in any game I suggest don't play multiplayer

Edited by Silvurphlame: 10/25/2015 12:31:56 PMSo this post is about a year old and I doubt OP is still following it, but for any other women or girls or anyone else experiencing issues with players behaving badly: Best thing to do is not only report them but block them. I see you're on Xbox? You should be able to add a description of what they've done when you block them through XBox Live. And of course blocking through the network them prevents them from being matched with you in future activities, for any game ever.. Always network block people you truly don't want to be around again. It's the one advantage of the virtual world over the real one. If you think someone is purposefully being an asshole, you only have to deal with their sorry tail once. Eventually, if they're blocked by enough people, they'll only get to play with their own little subset population of turdmuffins and the rest of us will go on in peace.
