Some of us just want to play solo. Why put such an important chase item behind a timed mission that requires two people?
I get it... It's your game, your design, I need to play how you force me ... but it sucks. I just wanted to grind for some cool combos ... But now I'll likely not even touch it.
I can't stress how hard this sucks and kills replayability for me.
Edit:
Notice how nobody is defending the mission or saying it's fun? Nobody's retort is to say, "I love being forced into stuff even though Bungie tirelessly claims that they give players agency!" Nope, all I'm seeing is, "yeah, it's multiplayer" or "just suffer through it once and then you'll never have to do it again".
So, yeah - this is exactly why I gave the feedback. I like to enjoy video games and when the general consensus is "just suffer and get it done" - I think that's the exact right time to give feedback. If you like this type of mission, by all means post about how great it is. Bungie deserves that feedback, too.

Edited by AngrodTheBlack: 8/22/2024 4:20:32 PMTHIS. I have nothing but absolute contempt for Bungie over this. To force you into finding another player to play with who isn’t toxic, when most other players are, without providing ANY way to either match make, LFG or Fireteam Find is so far beyond being a complete, contempt filled disgrace it’s utterly repugnant in its complete and utter hatred for players. The level of disrespect Bungie has for us is vile and disgusting and if I wasn’t so invested in this game time wise and monetarily I’d never last past the first hour if I was a new player. They have ZERO respect for their players and this mission is proof positive of their complete and utter disrespect for their customers. I’ve had an absolute gutful of being treated like a piece of sht idiot by these contemptuous developers. FIX THIS BUNGIE!!! I know it’s hard when Pete needs a new classic car to rub in your faces but the least you could all do is show a little of the basic -blam!- respect he refuses to show us. It’s really not that much to ask for.

It's not just casual players who are upset it's also players who play dungeons and raids Solo. Everybody wants to have the option to play how they want to play they should not be forced to play with another person if they rather play by themselves as a challenge! I personally in the future want to see a version of dual destiny that is harder than a grandmaster mission, but it allows you to solo dual destiny but you have to put the effort to get the exotic class item you have to be willing to learn every mechanic by yourself!

3 RepliesI actually quit playing destiny 2 over this issue. I'm not going to be required to mic up and play with rude, arrogant kids (easy to judge by reading some of the replies here) to get an exotic. Bungie is well known for unnecessary nerfing things into the ground, rendering them unplayable, and that's extremely frustrating. But requiring two players to get a class item is the worst decision they've made since I started playing 10 years ago. Thankful to be done with this game and their stupid decisions.

Edited by B.E. Crittenden: 6/24/2024 11:05:04 PMI’m a solo player too. It is a big FU to us to keep us from getting the new most important piece of armor to come to the game. I’m never going to do there little Two Man Force F%$*, just for the principle of it. I’ve played for years, if they don’t change this, I might finally end up quitting this game. I’m sick of how they screw solo players. HOWEVER! I assure you Bungie could care less if I quit playing. I’ve already bought all of their damn content and I will never buy crap from Eververse. They have already got their hundreds of dollars from me. So if say bye-bye because of this, they would be happy to see me go. Then I won’t be bogging down their servers for the people that buy crap from Eververse. BTW, yes it’s an MMO, but it is also an entire real playable game. PvP is never something they force you to do in the real game content, they would have never had enough players to survive. Forcing people to play together for the best stuff is simply their way to get people into social bonds with other players. Then you might play more and of course buy all their stupid crap from Eververse. If not for the real game part, I would have never played this game or bought the expansions. If they forced you to play together for the real game part, I would have never even tried it. Interesting side note: My nephew that introduced me to this game didn’t even know what the H.E.L.M. was. He bought enough content to get what he wanted for PvP and then never left Crucible for two years. I understand PvP fun. I like Gambit, Crucible, Vanguard and Public Events, but it all free for all fun. You’re not forced to actually socially interact with the other players. It’s bad enough I have to deal with idiots walking up and punching me through an entire strike until I leave. Do you really think I want to be forced to talk to these A holes. No thanks.

7 RepliesEdited by Raiden85OCUK: 6/12/2024 3:46:01 PMThe backlash for the class item is pretty large, most of the comments are complaints about it on various content creator videos plus the Bungie forum feedback here is full of complaints, almost every post on one page is backlash and so it should be. This is an exotic mission, not a raid so I should be able to solo it, never seen an exotic mission in D2 that was not soloable so this is a massive kick in the balls. And for anyone saying this is an MMO which it is, it's still very much a soloable game with soloable rewards like doing dungeons solo and flawlessly, doing master lost sectors flawless solo. Hell, only until this update you were forced to solo lost sectors for new exotic loot, so yes this is very much a soloable game and exotic missions should never be forced to LFG let alone be forced to use a mic. Not only have they massively screwed over solo players, they have also screwed over the normal 3 man groups which the majority of D2 content has always been. -blam!- move Bungie and I hope the backlash hurts them because it's the only way they will change things. I use in game LFG for certain things like onslaught or doing the legendary exotic missions like Whisper and Zero Hour as those can be pretty hard on the hardest difficulty, but I can still do them solo on normal mode and enjoy doing it as it's rewarding to do things solo. But this mission should never, ever be made to where your forced to group up.

2 RepliesThe mission is fun and unique. I'd take that over just another 3 player mission every day. I didn't go in completely blind, I was with a pal who'd done it so I figured out some of it and some of it was handled with my pals help. Once you know what to do though for the mechanics, it's a fun activity and one I recommend everyone give a chance. Do I think Bungie should have told people the class item was linked to an activity requiring some communication? Yes. Do I think this community is acting like a bunch of entitled brats because they think they bought the class item? Yes. Do I think Bungie telling us that this activity requires a second player and some level of communication would have changed anything? No. You'd still be here complaining because everyone thinks they're entitled to everything in the expansion they bought. You'd see exactly the same complaints if the raid exotic was something OP as hell. Stubborn solo players need to realise the problem isn't the game, it's their unwillingness to budge.

2 Replieslfg exists, if you don’t have ONE friend, I don’t think the mission is the issue. Dual Destiny is the greatest mission they’ve done to date, it’s extremely fun. But sure let’s cry and complain on forums instead of getting a person to do it with. I bet half of you could find a person in these comments with how much you guys complain hahaha
-
1 ReplyEvery single raid in the game is dog -blam!- then I guess? Because you can’t solo any of them without glitches or exploits, so obviously it’s terrible content and you deserve to have every reward from them handed to you, right? Oooooooor just use the in game LFG bungie specifically made for solo players and, get this, do hard content to get good rewards?
-
I’m surprised they aren’t selling them for like 600 silver Hahaha
-
33 RepliesThe replies in this thread are the reason why alot of people like to play solo. People are just inherently arseholes. Oh I'm so superior, no ya not mate it's a game 😂😂😂
-
2 RepliesIt’s an online multiplayer game. You purchased a game meant to be played with others. If you want the class item use the in game lfg lol
-
4 RepliesMade for the streamers that can play all day in their groups. Good job @bungie
-
2 RepliesI think the mission is great and one of m favourite pieces of content I’ve played. I think it should be the way to indefinitely farm these class items. HOWEVER, I also think that there should be a way to get the class item for every single player without the need for communication. My suggestion is one drop per week from Excision.
-
4 RepliesI liked it better when we can just go to the lost sectors for exotics.
-
1 ReplyEdited by ΞsnΛχΞ: 6/13/2024 5:22:30 AMThe problem is not that you can’t do it solo. The problem is that you have to be on mic and do this raid-like mechanic to get through this timed, tedious mission in order to get a RANDOMLY ROLLED (<— lol!?) class item. I think they should’ve done it like Whisper or Outbreak. Make it tough, make it timed, make it a three people activity. But don’t force me into this situation where I have to be on mic with people and where I’m subjected to your awful rng. And to all the brains out there saying “If you cannot speak to people you don’t deserve it…” .. right, we all CAN speak to people. We just don’t enjoy this forced socialising with randoms, especially since this will take a long time to complete (especially at the beginning), let alone grind.

2 RepliesEdited by Haunt: 6/13/2024 10:53:19 AMI agree with this completely. Bungie has screwed over solo players on this one. I like the hard solo stuff and it is the reason I play this game and have bought all content since I joined during Witch Queen. The campaign missions on Legendary were a trip for solo despite the endless interludes of characters talking about their feelings. However, I like many many others expect access to what we pay for without having to be forced to interact with God knows who on comms. I get enough of human interaction in real life thanks and I use Destiny 2 to check out from all that. To put such a huge part of the expansion's value behind an unnecessary gate is unforgiveable. No doubt somebody is looking to boost their fireteam finder numbers/bonus and nobody gamed out the outcome. I have spent my last money on Destiny 2. Bungie ripped me off here and they will not get a chance to do it again. A beautiful new area with stellar artwork, superb endless fights and banging campaign missions all spoiled by a mean-spirited decision because uptake on fireteam finder wasn't what they hoped for The uptake on whatever they try to sell us next wont be what they hoped for either. Most destiny players are solo players and alienating them will probably lead to another round of layoffs in the long term. Shame of you Bungie. This was unnecessary.

You (meaning anyone) freely purchased a prouduct classed as mmo, with well documented ten year history....and agreed to TOS. These are the facts. Bungie has, and will take certain license freedom with its creation. There is no breach or mislead in terms. Whether or not any individual finds satisfaction in this is something else. Questions of Bungie motivation vary. For me, I appreciate the social aspect focus in this iteration. It's more than I could have expected....and has been a pleasant surprise. Examples: toughest Contest mode Raid to date immediately followed by well received epic campaign finale for the masses (while honoring player request for match made 12). Pale Heart space as stand alone unique offering where you can solo, fireteam, or match make. Exotic class item which is soloable to a point if you choose, followed by team of two requirement. In practice, a fair portion of Destiny content is not soloable for most players, although the option to do so has been historically available for the most part. Where would Dual fall even if a solo queue version were available?......that's a hypothetical for debate and no conclusive answer. A recent example would be Outbreak Perfected, which is reported by light.gg (just one readily available metric source) to have been discover by just 2.34% of guardians. Comparatively speaking......if a proposed Dual solo queue were to yield a similar 2% discover rate, there wouldn't be much of an argument to be found against implementing 2s in Dual..... In any matching instance, this would take into account various barriers (excapt skill level) including accessibility for individuals with certain impairments. The Beta in-game LFG is a good example, accounting for title options including greeting / goals. Tags including deaf, hard of hearing, color blind, visual impairment....and more. Languages. Mic/no Mic....etc. Yes, LFG exists for Dual. As an offering for 2s.....is it so wrong / difficult to view this as a positive? I view this as a gap bridging and/or alternate experience opportunity. 2s have been interesting in PvP lists....and you'll also find them solicited in the LFG for things other than Dual. This shouldn't be so much about complaints....which comprise most of the input on this board. At the end of the day this comes down to communication and relationship, just like the rest of life.....even if it is just for an hour or two with other players via _____ (fill in the blank) avenue. The real question is - where are you, as an individual, meeting Destiny? Sincerely, 10 year solo player

2 RepliesEdited by Hawpy: 6/13/2024 5:59:44 PMI can only recall people hating getting Exotics through Legend/Master Lost Sectors. Now that it's gone, and we get this cool mission that can be done on LFG (using the in-game Fireteam Finder) without saying a word (text chat on all platforms), everyone thinks it was the best system ever. The only thing that might prevent a solo player doing the mission is not knowing the symbols from Vow of the Disciple, but that is very easy to look up. The timing is very generous, and nobody is expecting a flawless understanding of the mission when it's so new. Blind runs are a thing, and very worthwhile in this instance. For the average person reading this who disagrees with me, you do not have severe social anxiety. You are just too set in your ways. If that level of anonymous interaction with stranger on a game whose goals align with yours is too much to handle, you are incapable of getting through daily life. Even replying to comments on this forum requires more interaction.

21 RepliesEdited by chadley71: 6/12/2024 1:42:05 PMWill not use my Anyone can play emblem ever again. Another blow for those like me on the spectrum. Not easy talking to other people no matter what but I love this game so I have to get help from others to do things like this. A class item should be obtained like the other armour exotics were even if they were via hard solo lost sectors. At least I can do that by myself. Very elitist and non diverse to the max really. A REAL shame cause the last week was absolutely fantastic.
-
30 RepliesI have never moaned about things like this before, happy to not raid, albeit in D1 I used to be a fairly hardcore raider, but this situation has massively annoyed me. They did not need to lock this behind a 2 person only mission, it could have been a long grind type of thing, could have been a hard mission, but with practice, be soloable. At least do the decent thing and don’t advertise it as part of something, like the new weapons and armour, that can be obtained by all. There are lots of reasons why not everyone can play with others. The only ones who are saying it’s fine are either the elitists or others who want to try and wind people up. Just a shame we cant go and get a refund now as I really thought Bungie turned a corner with this expansion.

2 RepliesThe mission is amazing and a blast. It's meant to be challenging. One mission on lfg to farm chests for class items is nothing. This is a multi-player game if your running it solo then there's content you will miss if you don't try to group. There, here's a person defending the mission.
