Because a handful of people decided all of a sudden that gear they didn't care about for years needs to be farmed, & they cried about it until they got their way.

All this does is confirm that whining and stomping your feet like a toddler will eventually get you your way. It's literally like watching children. They didn't care about the toy until they saw it getting thrown out, now they magically care.
