I think the biggest eye opener (that I already knew and despised) is how bungie only does it's "best work" with their backs against the wall. I believe what's his name even said it in the vidoc. Only putting out stuff that's good every time the game is suffering is EXACTLY why I can't stand it anymore. This stupid mentality that expansions should be used to buy back trust every time they mess something up is just an awful system for the players. It's not something that we can consistently tell our friends to come and play because it will be great...it's "DESTINY'S COMING BACK, DON'T WORRY." And there's really nothing I can do about it anymore. The final shape is supposed to be this big -blam!- deal...and I literally felt nothing. I can't even have fun doing the mindless stuff like crucible because it's too laggy. Or pve is just so boring that even paint drying might give me a bigger kick. And I knew this was coming I just didn't want it to be real. More and more I found myself having more fun running around the tower in a circle just blabbing to my friends about stuff. More and more I find myself sitting in orbit and doing nothing. The last big thing I enjoyed was crota coming back and i have necrochasm and...what does it add to the experience of the rest of the game...nothing. It's not that they aren't creative with gear, because they are...but gameplay is just too hollow and boring. Die instantly or wipe them out. That's the depth of this game and all it will ever be.

I deleted my characters and vault a couple of weeks ago. I intended to see it through to the end with Final Shape but it's been delayed, like so many expansions have been. I had been playing, like you, since 2014. I realised that, for me, the game is just old and tired and offers nothing new. It's just the same old from a developer I do not want to support anymore. If people enjoy the game then good for them but it seems that anyone leaving is met with the same old tired replies of announcing your departure. And it's the same old names doing it, the same sycophants who are going to be lining up to buy Marathon after Destiny is abandoned after Final Shape and it's ending full of recycled locations. But hey, maybe we will get something to be excited about, like the awesome Poulka pool on Neptune that the Lightfall dev's were so excited for us to see. That was just a pool with some fish in it. But it's a valid point. The amount of people that have noped out since Lightfall, and I was in a very casual clan that would have thirty or so players online when that launched, is shocking. No one I know who was playing the Lightfall launch is still doing so. No one. The fact that people who have played for nearly a decade are leaving in large numbers shows how much Bungie have just driven people away with their tone deafness and arrogance. The beginning of the end for me was the lack of ritual armour set being highlighted, and then the petty way they then gave us a set with ridiculously low drop rates that was not available in collections .. that right there is a prime example of their attitude towards a playerbase they should thank themselves lucky to still have. If we look back to 2014 the whole franchise has been nothing but a let down and fallen far short of it's potential. It launched with a hacked apart story that made no sense. Loot was unrewarding and the loot cave was then patched. Then two lacklustre DLC's were followed by the Taken King which was the only really high point of Destiny One outside of the Vault of Glass, which only a small percentage of players have ever finsihed. Rise of Iron was alright but it was filler until Destiny 2 launched. Gee, where have we seen that before ?? Destiny 2 took all the things Bungie had learned, and threw them away. Then they went on a march to try and recover players who were going back to Destiny One. Since then I cant think of one really high point outisde of Forsaken, which was vaulted and missed a real opportunity to shock us by revealing Cayde's death. Witch Queen was good but then we got a filler expansion in Lightfall that was utter dog toffee followed by Bungie once again doffing their cap to the streamers and making difficulty changes most didn't want, that has basically killed the game for lot of people. The expansions, outside of Witch Queen, were just alright in my view but the game always felt like it was constantly lurching from one disaster to another. And the cash shop, which appeared in Destiny One has taken over. Look in collections at the early seasons with things that were obtainable by playing, now check the later seasons where almost everything is on the Season Pass or in Eververse. And those of us who said this would happen around the launch of the Taken King, and who were shouted down by the fanboys, have been proven right. In fact it's worse than most of us would have ever thought possible. People should be asking why people are leaving, why they are 45% down on what they thought they would make. The answer is sheer hubris. But Bungie wont ever realise that. Because of their hubris. The Final Shape, just being good according to internal feedback, is not going to become great after a three month delay. And we already know Final Shape is playing the Cayde card and recycling old locations. I expect it to sell badly but be appreciated by the Destiny die hards. But it wont be a commercial success as most of the people Bungie need to be playing have moved on. Sony will step in to try and recover the billions they spent buying a company who had one game they were happily running into the ground. They own Bungie, people seem to forget that it wasn't a merger, and Bungie is failing to meet the agreed parameters to keep what little identity they have left as an independent. Their days are numbered. I bet the Final Shape is only being delayed because Destiny is a franchise heading for a reboot after it. It will lead into a new era. Sony will clean out the people holding Destiny back and launch a next gen console and PC only franchise in an attempt to salvage some face from what was clearly a bad deal for them. Maybe PS5 only as it's clearly the leading console right now. Maybe a refreshed and innovative next gen only Destiny franchise, with multiple studios working on it led by Sony, would be worth playing. In my view if that doesn't happen this game dies in eighteen months because it's on it's last legs now. I've been playing and enjoying the Valhalla DLC for God of War Ragnarok. From a Sony studio that describes itself as being a fan of their fans. The DLC tells a great story over four to five hours, and it was free. Because they wanted to give back to the fans who supported their games. Imagine if that approach was in Destiny's future. I think a lot of us would come back for that game.

I'm almost right up there with u. Still getting constant crashes and this is one of very few games that crash on my series x. I didnt pay for the next expansion and I'm glad I didn't. Might just finish off the rest of the season (if I can even stay connected long enough to get anything done) then call it quits at the end of the season. Also having a full time job takes up a lot of my time too so there's that lol. But good luck to u on ur gaming endeavors
