If you were given the Keys to the Bungie offices
And you had carte blanche to do anything, change everything, make Bungie into a Indie dev studio again or maybe more like activision, employees etc right down to the color of the paint in the bathrooms, i mean everything and anything, What would you immediately do first?

make all the walls, ceiling, floor extremely dark black paint so as to reduce visibility. then add weird long indents/outdents so as to make every room soundproof reducing audible sounds to a whisper.

Get back the D1 content makers, get dedicated servers, fix PvP, make a good balance between PvP and PvE, make more PvP maps, do something about hackers and cheaters.

Verify the location of Ling Ling's head. After than I'd just look around at all they've done and become. They're never gonna capture lightning in a bottle again like they did with Halo, because they are no longer the hungry and fun interested small group that they were then, and haven't been for quite some time. Now they're too big, too wealth focused, too vested into areas outside gaming where they have no business espousing anything, which tarnished(es) and eroded(es) the entertainment/games that they now produce. And it's sad, because they were once unequalled.

1 ReplyShake up the leadership who directly manage Destiny. Lightfall has been the biggest misfire since vanilla Destiny 2, and was an effort to fix a game that was not broken. Like vanilla D2, Lightfall messed with the core play loop of the game. Broke the power fantasy, and changed the game in ways that showed little understanding of the game and why the vast majority of players play it. Apparently revenue from the game is down 45% this year, and it comes as no surprise to me. Lightfall confines the average player to the dullest, least rewarding parts of the game. Actually I feel the announcement that The Final Shape will be delayed is probably a good thing for the player base. Because it would have been a train wreck if Bungie repeated the formula they used for Lightfall.

I would use their resources to make games I want to make. Bungie devs are mostly experienced in making FPS games, though, which I would very much not be making, so I'm not sure how that would turn out. Worst case scenario, I would just hire a bunch of new folk for a new team, and let the people working on whatever they're already working on keep doing that. I wouldn't fire the old folk, because that would be mean.
