Child is not a better tether. It is a lower damage buff, lower movement penalty, doesn’t suppress and has a smaller radius.

How many engagements are you entering with your Tether ready vs having a rift ready, if not already having the ball. Idk about you but I can't wait around in every game I play for Tether to come back to start an engagement. I can, however, wait around for my rift to come back in less than a minute so that I can get my mini-tether buddy.
