With the exotic changes bungie announced a change to stompees that revert is stats back to pre AE nerf with the caveat that it now is only active when dodge is off cooldown.
You may ask how is it fair titans and warlocks keep their movement exotics and I’ll answer. Simply put dunemarchers extra utility option was nerfed, and shoulder charge will have a longer cooldown in addition. Transversive steps have always just been a good neutral game option that granted the ability to reload 1 weapon while sprinting much like hunter dodge.
So what’s the difference, vertical movement. Hunters have been and always will be the kings of vertical movement, being able to go up or down on a dime. Titans and warlocks can only run faster in a line, and that requires movement techs too.
Vertical movement in such a fashion is stronger than many other movement options as you can often jump away from dangers. In addition to a strong verticality hunters also have dodge which helps to reposition in a fight when out of position. Lastly with stompees not only do hunters receive a boost to that verticality, they also gain the ground movement advantage as well.
As a result bungie changed the exotic to make it more balanced in opposition to the other classes giving hunters a more defined role in pvp. Hunters will have dodge virtually all the time unless it’s needed, to which there is a relatively quick cooldown. Often stompees are used to make up for bad positioning and movement and now this encourages players to learn how to make proper engagements without nerfing the upper echelons of players who already have this skill.

tldr: in depth copper player analysis youre welcome

They should keep the movement speed the same, but tie the jump into the dodge.

1 ReplyDisagree. Even if AE penalty is gone, the fact that your uptime on the increased movement has been nerfed makes these a waste of an exotic to me. Fast movement is amazing...but only if it is consistent IMO. Wasn't a big stompees user anyways so not too upset overall, but no lie these went from a 'might use sometimes ' Exotic to a permanent vault resident in my eyes.

8 RepliesI'm not reading that drivel. All I'll say is nobody worth their salt uses stompees for the jump height.
-
6 RepliesNo it's not, I don't necessarily care because I've never used them for anything but jumping puzzles, but a movement exotic that restricts movement is dumb.

Lmao no.

Thanks for the input, Jim.

8 RepliesMost true statement I've ever seen but since hunters are majority of the population, they'll complain all day

4 RepliesEdited by Seiryoku: 5/11/2023 3:01:41 PMPfft Our verticality may be our quintessential class function in your eyes, but it is simultaneously our greatest strength and weakness. A person that can't look up and shoot a Hunter that has expended their jumps and is falling in an extremely predictable arc, shouldn't be speaking on such matters. If you continually move to and sit in a short to mid range spot where a Hunter jumping up and down over a door frame or sliding the corner has the advantage, you're insane. ST0M-PEE5 are prevalent to keep up with no mobility Warlocks and Titans, THAT BOTH ENJOY THEIR OWN DODGE OPTIONS, that get to lanes faster than anything other than the Strand class. This must be done on low ceiling areas of a map. It's something to be mastered, not just a shoulder charge or Icarus after a steady repetition of burst glide available on any surface or area. If someone is jumping off your screen you have bad positioning, movement, reticle placement, sensitivity, ranging, and or FoV.

Edited by Khamael: 5/11/2023 2:10:01 PMOk. But now you need to prove everything you wrote is right with maths, otherwise it is simply just another subjective opinion. Will wait for it. Thank you. Edit: Oh, i do not use stompies. Just in the case you thought so.
