Already Done I'm in pretty much the same position as yourself but its only my eldest that i was playing with whereas the youngest always looks to join in but we hadn't yet got him to play that much. I refunded Lightfall as soon as i read the news about the difficulty changes and I'm here because I'm always hoping that they may reverse the awful decision they made , but if its not changed within the next couple of weeks then there is no way back as it will be too late and we will have missed all the stuff from this season. I too played some raids etc but i could see what was going to happen and that was the grind would be even more arduous than ever and not enjoyable . and TBH that's why we play together to have fun not to be put in to a artificially challenged game that we cant enjoy . I am prepared to purchase Lightfall again if the changes are reverted quickly but if not there is no point and it gets less likely as the weeks draw on. I feel they listened to the wrong people and have shot themselves in the foot with it but knowing Bungle from the past they wont admit it and would rather just let the game fester and dwindle than admit a mistake. So yes i already voted with my wallet and lost trust in Bungle no matter what their next IP Is

I too am a Dad with 4 boys. I got a Lightfall refund for all 4 of my boys. Steam would not give me a refund because I had played too long on opening day. Thankfully my kids did the smart thing and checked out the game online and realized how horrible Lightfall is so I was able to save $400 dollars. Lightfall will be the LAST dollar I ever give Bungie. I've never seen a company so out of touch with their player base. Lightfall is a huge fail and Bungie knows it.

This is what happens when a game goes from a full-priced game to where the business had to at least put some effort into the game to, the lazy cheap content with the new light system. Besides all that, most kids/teens are being conditioned to just accept garbage these days. Do yourself a favor and pay attention to any business actions vs their words. Also a dad. I have plenty of time on my hands to invest, but totally agree with you OP that gatekeeping items through increased difficulty and time commitments is absolute bullschitt. A good ski area has beginner, intermediate and expert runs. A good video game should as well. This change hurts more than it helps. I hope they tone things down some for base content, but keep the challenging endgame content for me because it also needs to be there.

I hear this. In my view, the 1% of ubergamers that play this game and complain about a lack of difficulty are the ones that need to find another game with greater challenge.

Unfortunately, the Bungie stans will just tell you to [i]"git gud"[/i]. And Bungie does not care about you. they made their money. They have their loyalists who will eat up whatever Bungie does.

It’s good to see gamers like you have fun with your family playing a game you’ve enjoyed. But this game has changed a lot. It is no longer catered to your kind of gaming. This game has struggled since it was launched in vanilla D2. Millions left and never came back, and then the main investor and publisher Activision also left later after finding out they can’t save this broken and empty game no matter what they throw at it. Activision left because the millions who left the game didn’t come back so the game is no longer providing the return of investment that they were expecting. Activision was actually losing and bleeding because they have to throw 2 of their own studios in here just to help keep the game afloat. That’s how bad this game has become. It was laughable! Now, this game is just barely surviving because it is being streamed and played by no-lifers who lives in the game and broadcasting it making a living out of it. Hence, this exchange of services between the game and the no-life streamers creates a sort of ecosystem between them, feeding each other. That’s why the game is in this state now. You are just a currency to them. It is no longer catered to you or your family. It’s just about your money. They don’t care how you play, as long as you pay. Just think about it, a videogame company said their game is watchable. They said this, the guys that makes games want their game to be watchable! How pathetic is that? I’ve never seen anything like that in the game industry since I’ve been gaming in the 70’s up to now. Nobody wants to buy a game and then watch other people play it. It’s beyond laughable, it’s pathetic. This is what has become of the community here that was left behind after this mess. It’s created an ecosystem here where the game is mediocre and underdelivered, while it strokes the egos of the no-lifers that feeds on the game. I’m with you. I’m a 60 year old who still plays. I used to play with my two adult sons, but both of them have moved on and no longer find Destiny enjoyable. I’m sad that we no longer share those moments and am now starting to question my own sanity for playing. I know Bungie said they wanted to make the game “more challenging”, but really who is this for? Video games should be a fun activity you do in your spare time, not a chore that you suffer through. This entire elitist culture that Bungie is building around itself won’t be able to sustain the numbers or interest. They better wise up soon and realize a game above all else is supposed to be FUN!!!!!
