Bungie’s in a difficult spot. If they open up permanent freelance, the regular playlist loses a ton of players. It will also be SIGNIFICANTLY harder for duos to find and win trials games. The population is split as well, meaning that if either playlist can’t attract enough players on both playlists, all games will be hard and sweaty. Bungie’s very afraid of the population split, and freelance trials is simply not enough to bring players in long term on its own. More players are below the 1.0 k/d threshold, which means there a far more players struggling with trials and getting slaughtered. Even freelance won’t attract these players long term. Bungie needs to find a solution to bring a MASSIVE influx of players playing every week. If not, Bungie will probably eventually put trials into the dcv for once again, becoming a dead playlist. Can’t imagine the sweats reaction for trials getting cancelled for a long period again… They’ll be FAR more toxicity in the game then ever seen previously, with the entire community at war with one another.
