Apart from the glitchy motes, the damage inconsistencies and the rotation between what three maps now? … but at the end of the day the game mode is bad because Gambit is not about Gambit. It’s about invading. Everything else, the motes, the blockers, high value targets, none of that even matters. It’s just about invading. You can have the best ad clearing team and summon the primeval 5 minutes before the other team. If they have one of those invaders, who are most of the time not sus at all!, you’re pretty much done. Another PvP mode. It’s not a mix. It’s PvP. Hence it’s bad.
Edit: Everyone who pretends like you have to be good to take Gjallahorn across and shoot it aiming in the general direction of where people are is even more ridiculous than this playlist.

Unfortunately you know Bungie would never do Gambit without invasions since its been a part of Gambit ever since the gamemode came out all the way back in Season of the Drifter
-
truth. remove invading
-
Im surprised they haven't done a lab gambit with no invade But instead of opening the invade portal it summon a ogre that count as 2 enemy
-
And bounties. Most people just play for their weekly 8 bounties/dust and 3 games/pinnacle. Most of the bounties work against the team objectives too, so there’s that. Why would someone revive you if they can take all those motes?

2 RepliesI've definitely swung games as an invader, but I've also had the opposite happen. You invade and get blasted by tracking rockets, linears, bows, pulses, scouts and so on. Then you get rolled because you are always down a person. Invasions are still flawed in a way, but the game mode itself is flawed. You want a pve race to the finish with player interruptions, its gonna be unbalanced no matter how you handle it.
…and the rotation between what three maps now?
Gambit should have 10+ maps by now and a range of boss fights. I haven’t played for a while due to it going stale, so not sure how the PVP element is going at the moment. It seemed fine to me when I last played so I don’t like the idea of removing it completely (as some in the comments are suggesting).

4 RepliesHonestly? Ran it with some friends last week had a blast lost some won some it’s just nice to not have to give AF about anything you lose? Big deal you win? Who cares send the lowest kd player over let em feel like a god for once. We played with somebody who hadn’t touched destiny in a loooooong time he’ll even ran strikes with em had an absolute amazing time I think that’s what we all miss about this game the simplicity not the ridiculous loot and gear and build grind who’s idea was that anyway? Try it out sometime just try not giving AF about the outcome the games a lot more fun.

2 RepliesHad a match where the opposing team banked 5-6 Large Blockers at the end of the first spawn. Summoned their Primeval and melted it before my team had finished with the second wave of spawns.
-
13 Replies- During wave phases the invader should drop 10-15 modes on a failed invasion. Making a failed attempt very costly on top of reducing his team's dps potential. - The invader's Primeval feeding should be based on what he used to kill Guardians (Primaries give most hp, Energy mid tier hp, Heavies/Supers the least hp). This acknowledges the risk/skill vs reward during boss phase invasions. A very good idea from a poster months ago. - Killing an enemy invader during the other team's boss phase should send a lvl 3 tier blocker to the enemy team. I play a lot of Gambit and love the concept but I agree the invader system makes too much of a difference especially given the abundance of heavy ammo spawns since the update. The three ideas above should balance it out by adding risk/reward and a degree of risk to invading where players may find it better not to invade. And we need more maps. And I personally don't see any reason for blockers and bosses to still be Taken types at this point.

1 ReplyGambit 2022, or: can I kill this invader with my Gjallarhorn before he kills me with his Gjallarhorn?
-
3 RepliesBeing good at add clear is only going to get you so far. Quit ignoring the portal and invade. One or two kills will force the other team into another damage phase. That's how you change the momentum in Gambit.
-
I thought gambit was the best thing in gaming ever then you used your big brain to inform me of this exclusive bit of information. I’m enlightened now and I have you to thank.

6 RepliesInvaders arnt ‘the problem’. Team mentality is the problem! Everyone plays the game mode solo with no regard for who or what the hell is going on! How many times you carry 14 motes and you need that one more to go and bank and some steamrolling ape jacks that last mote now only carrying 3 motes? How many times do team mate ape NOT rez you cause they (again) want only all the motes for themselves and then run in to 3 to 6 blocks they ‘forgot’ to take down and now have to do solo which 95% of the time result in them losing their ‘precious’ motes? How many times do NONE of your team mates turn around, even tho alerts are flashing bright red and Drifter gives you and teammates a MASSIVE HINT “someone is on your field and up to no good” and litterly none of you bats an eye and tries to fight him off, it’s 2 to 4 people against 1. Gambit is suffering from a player mentality problem, nothing more! you actually work as team and you just simply kick as every single game (and maybe even have some fun while your at it).
that said, to give gambit meaning and purpose to players again, I hope that they bring back the player roles from gambit prime back on gambit armor intrinsically! That way you can build a gambit set to better play the game mode. It could work in the same way Iron Banner Forerunner set now grants chance to prisms upon completing a match! That be cool if they te-introduce those features.
Edited by Dredgen Araphel: 7/8/2022 9:25:11 PMI don't play it much except to gild. Yall don't want invaders and you will use that excuse until its gone not the casual changes or removal of prime but invaders, yea ok. You are free to ruin it further and make it a boring horde mode, heck may as well remove the other team as well because there would be no point in them. Why play a gambit with no invasions and just boring pve?
-
Never post after pvp losses.
-
1 ReplyWhen a game is won on lost on one invasion the game is broken.
-
Fair. For some reason, I’m actually pretty decent at Gambit (usually get top one or two on like banks and kills on ads) but all the hard work gets wrecked when one invader comes in and spams ghorn.
-
1 ReplyGambit is probably mostly fine People are just inept at team play. Invaders wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't always have the one guy who tries to collect 50 motes. Or the one guy who won't deposit his 10 motes when you need 1 more to summon tb primeval Etc

2 RepliesMad cos bad I think

Edited by BadDay: 7/9/2022 8:28:26 AMGambit and pvp are a steaming pile hot of dog sh** That's also of fire for some reason

1 ReplyRun in a group, problem solved for the most part lol

5 RepliesInvasions should have more of a Gambling aspect to it. You should have to invade with motes to use heavy if you want to use it. If the invader gets downed they drop whatever motes they have and the home team can pick them up. It would make invasions more strategic and punishing to the invader if they mess up.
-
4 RepliesThe really real reason Gambit is so bad is that people have different goals and not many play for the team. It wasn't just the communication that made stacks smash solos so badly, it's actual teamwork as well. You've got the guy with twice as many motes as kills because he just wants to get the most motes for the gilded seal. You've got another person who just wants to get their bounties done so they're ramming through punching everything and getting smoked by the ads every 15 seconds. Then you got the third guy who wants to do nothing but invade so he hovers by the gate and maybe takes out an ad or two if he gets a good line of sight. Then you hear the invader message and not a soul changes what they're doing because they don't really care. Someone else will get the job done. And if they don't and your selfish teammate gets wasted holding 15 motes, they'll teabag you the rest of the match like it was your fault. The mode sucks because it's a team game that everyone plays solo. But cheap Gjallarhorn kills aren't helping either.

I'm fine with gambit outside of the seemingly random invincibility phases of the prime.
-
3 RepliesThey need to just delete it. I never play unless I rly need a pinnacle. Maybe 6 games a season max
-
1 ReplyI play a lot of gambit and totally agree with what your saying, and invaders using ghally is not a skill, I use Polaris Lance when I go invading. IMO, Best weapon in the game
