4 RepliesWhat’s the incentive? Well it’s the only way you can win the game. I’m confused how you are confused about this. It’s pretty cut and dry lol.
-
The incentive is to quit being a killmonger and play the damn objective.

1 ReplyTechnically if a team didn’t capture any zones in regular control they could prolong the match if they were good enough to out kill the other team at least 3:1. If nobody captured a second flag it could take longer than normal too, since the kills for both teams are only worth 1 point. But this rarely happens. Most teams play for the win. Unless both teams are on the same “no capture” page it will kind of force both to play for the win. It may feel painful as some will never play for the objective, but enough will that it won’t be completely ignored.

It's just going to be in crucible labs to start, if you don't like it don't play it and bungie will see poor numbers and not continue it.
-
9 RepliesThe bigger question is "What's the incentive to even play the mode in the first place?"
-
Players are going to simply move in unison, farm you until they have 2 zones and spawn camp you for the rest of the game. You cant even switch spawns in this mode since it will take 22 seconds for one person to capture a zone. I see dark times for pvp. I wish you all luck
-
Reminds me of the good old days of farming mountaintop kills. Good times.... Goooood times
-
Idea to combat this: creeping darkness debuff for not having been within a zone for any time. if you reach 10 stacks with out clearing it in a zone? dead. Keeps the focus on zones and the guys defending have another layer of difficulty cause they got a frenzies guy rushing in to not die . Could be a horrible idea just a thought though.

1 ReplyPeople who want to win will pull their hair out at the people who just want to camp zones and farm kills and not help capture anything, just like before. If they really wanted a mode where people played the objectives, they'd ignore kill stats altogether and just award captures.
-
1 ReplyIt's the only way to get Points. If it's Red side has 3, Blue has 0 captured, Blue gets Zero points a Kill. While Red gets 3 per a Kill. It's Domination.
-
That’s where the streamers pump up their KDs,you notice they never cap and just farm people capping.

1 ReplyEdited by BANZAI GEXX: 6/17/2022 2:33:23 PMYou’ll only get points for zone captures and the length of time you hold them. No points for kills. Same concept as rift. If you only go for kills you will “always” lose. You need to capture and hold down zones. I’ll be definitely be maining bubble Titan with Citan ramparts or warlock now for zone capture.

Ability bump

1 ReplyIt will be sweaty AS. The same people who complain about sweats treating control like clash and ignoring the objective will be gassed up for the forums soon enough.

Winning.

1 ReplyIt's an objective. Something most D2 players despise.

5 RepliesEdited by Redacted0625: 6/17/2022 11:47:45 AMim not positive but it apears their removing points for kills therefore capping zones will be the only way to get points and if thats actually the case pvp is pretty much gonna die i mean theres a reason its called pvp and not track and field hoping like hell im wrong tho cause then i just wont bother shooting my guns ill just stand on the thing and then move to the next thing

One time the enemy team had all 3 zones the whole game and we still won because my team was full of sweaty tryhards farming the other team. I could barely get a kill because the other 5 people I got paired with were spawn killing the other team. I didn’t see it as fun winning that way, and I’m pretty sure the opposing team didn’t have a good time getting killed constantly.
-
1 ReplyWait, there's zones to capture?
-
I'll still be playing the mode as I play normal control. I'll cap first zone then not touch a single one, while I stop the enemy team from capturing two zones. Aim of the game in either zone control or regular control is keep control of holding two zones and not letting enemy team capture two while locking the enemy team into one spawn and not forcing a spawn flip and just farm them in their spawn.

1 ReplyEdited by Say goodnight, Pipilly: 6/17/2022 12:08:11 AMIt'll be interesting to see how long it takes for team sweats to lobby-grief by preventing captures and not capping themselves to extend matches. They could just camp the zones and deny entry, keeping all zones grey til the end of the 10-15 minute round and win 3-0. Edit: or even 1-0

Edited by Haters: 6/17/2022 2:14:39 AMBungie got upset at 5 minute control matches. Now with this change they can add a fun new metric slide to their annual shareholder meeting. “destiny pvp is alive and well! Look at how many hours our players spent in PvP activities!”
bookmark this post. I promise you at end of year they will have an all destiny metric for “hours spent in PvP activities”
Already plotting to be toxic? 🙄

There isn't and I think this is just another poor attempt to address blowouts. The answer is so clear that theu even admitted it but still wanna play games. You cannot based the entire game around a select few. This is going to be a failure just like iron rift. Long boring games with a clear winner but will be dragged on and people will just leave bad games and you're only emphasizing stacks and that fine but know the consequences.
-
Yeah, that's pretty much what it was in D1
