So first off, yes, I haven't played the expansion. I actually haven't played for several months, waiting to see how sunsetting and vaulting panned out. The reaction is just as negative as I thought it would be...
This whole thing just feels scummy. Paid content is removed, my favorite weapons are utterly useless (YoU cAn UsE tHeM iN pAtRoLs AnD sTrIkEs lol), and the expansion just seems... empty. Oh, and the new subclass is utterly broken in PvP (who would've thunk it?). And let's not forget this expansion was $40, the price of a full price game. This one, you're essentially paying for the right to lose a game.
At least with a Destiny 3, yeah, everybody would be mad they have to start over, but isn't that what everyone is essentially doing now? It would be like buying FIFA 21, but instead of giving you a new game (however bad it is) they give you FIFA 20, but with updated player rosters.

2 RepliesBungie don't have the time, money or resources to make D3.
-
I too also form opinions based on what others say
-
For as light as beyond light was on content, making an entirely new game wouldn’t be a good idea. Think of everything we’d lose. All the exotic armor and weapons we’d lose would make me never want to play again. I’m convinced D2 will be the last destiny game made and by the end we will have all exotic armor and weapons back as well as supers.
-
I don't. I think they would have taken even more stuff out the game. Looking at D2 vanilla.
-
your essentially paying for the right to lose a game.
Stuff goes away whether you payed or not.
-
Disagree. The loot pool would be bigger. But they would just bring a lot back from D1 and D2. When there is a D3, I am done. I don’t enjoy getting back gear I previously had. I don’t feel I earned it , it feels more like “it’s about time you gave that back”
-
1 ReplyWhat they need to do is rename the entire thing to Destiny. Merge both games into one then create a huge game with all Destiny 1 and 2 quests, missions and destinations to explore. But oh wait.. They don’t have enough room on their hard drives for such a thing to even be possible.
-
BL is supposed to be D3, D2 and D1 in 1 game. Bungie is trying to keep Destiny as a single game, as it should be.
-
I think BL was supposed to be D3
-
2 RepliesThey can’t swing it. Destiny 3 would bring me back but Bungie isn’t capable of that. They’re hanging on by a thread and milking this thing for everything they can. Two years from now they’ll be back under the umbrella of Microsoft.
-
If they made a Destiny 3 I would be going back to Destiny 1 because at that point, it would be clear that you just need to choose which version of Destiny you like the most if they are going to keep resetting all of our gear each time they make a new game.
-
To the person who posted this, and to literally everyone else that said this. They’ve already explained this half a year ago that they can’t afford to start again and that there’s no point making us start on a whole new engine again and starting our entire loot hoard again. So this way it dosent cost them as much
-
They shoule have just kept going with Destiny 1
-
Destiny 2 is practically destiny 1 revised. What makes you think destiny 3 would be better? From what’s going on right now with lack of content and old stuff brought back from d1.... destiny 3 is just gonna be destiny 2.1 lol
-
I agree. The full on MMO playstyle doesn't fit Destiny at all. it was never designed to be a full MMO from the start so it never should have went down that route. The game also alienates solo players a lot in the current set up. As a game with a very in depth story and lore it would have worked better as an immersive cinematic RPG with co-op capabilities. Almost like Mass Effect for example but the option to play with your friends.
-
3 RepliesImpossible. The studio doesn't have the resources to publish and develop a brand new massive AAA game on their own at this point. Only way D3 would've happened is if Bungie stuck with Activision or got bought out by a big publisher like Microsoft or Ubi.
-
Destiny 3 would have been 1000 times better but it would have been a lot more expensive for Bungie. Plus Bungie is working on a brand new game and most of their staff is working on that . For them to make a brand new destiny would require their full staff.

Edited by Ares: 11/15/2020 5:47:11 AMHow long had we been saying this since it was announced bro? :) FYI though, like we said all those months ago, you can't be under leveled in either patrol areas or strikes either man or you just get shredded - Bungie bungied HARD!
-
Edited by EliteSpartan: 11/15/2020 4:06:19 AMWhile it would be nice bungie and the game aren't in a good spot to make a entirely new game. With the amount of content we get from bungie a new game could never survive unless they brought everything or close to everything from d1 and d2 into d3.(which would kill the game because nothing was new)
-
1 ReplyBungie can't even make Destiny 2 right why do want Destiny 3?
-
4 RepliesEdited by Azoths_Gambit: 11/15/2020 3:55:27 AMDownvoted: Blam a total reset. I experienced that going from d1 to d2 Sunsetting and Vaulting are not the same as a total reset. I could still use sunsets in things like patrols and crucible

1 ReplyAll the gameplay I’ve seen from the DLC looks awesome and they chopped the file size, which for me was a huge bonus. I’d much rather have this than a new game, if for no other reason then D3 would’ve meant I lose my cosmetics I’ve accrued over the years. Personal opinion though. I don’t give a darn about PvP balance, the more chaos the better, so that’s also got something to do with it.
Sorry, all out of salt.
I wouldve preferred Destiny 3 too however it 100% needs to be a next gen game only which wasn’t really possible until now that the next gen is here. Destiny 2 needed to be released to drop the 360/PS3 parts of Destiny 1 and Destiny 3 needs to do the same for Destiny 2
-
2 RepliesA full game costs $60 or more, not $40. The expansion is excellent. People just like to complain like little babies
-
I would rather they developed d3 for next gen and PC only. Otherwise we end up with a similar situation to D1 where the game was held back so it could run on PS3 etc
