Honestly was on the fence with buying BL and the season pass. I havnt missed a release in all of Destiny, but was feeling a little off with the sunset.
Was waiting to see a nice amount of interesting weapons and perks added to chase and grind for....but we literally got pennies.
23 guns, almost all are undesirable archetypes, and the roll options are super bland. Is this game still meant to be a looter shooter? What am I chasing, where’s the excitement?
Exotics look dope and Hawkmoon will be fun, I guess, but I just can’t help but feel releases are getting more and more shallow when it comes to gear and carrots to chase.
Thoughts?

It is a looter shooter still. There very well may be a roll for new weapons you haven’t seen yet that may surprise you. I don’t think you should give up on the game. There’s so much more to come this season! You’re only two days in. You might be surprised.

There are ZERO 540 Kinetic and Energy Pulse Rifles that haven't been sunset . . .

Is there a new Hand Cannon? * Not including if getting one takes hand holding 6 other rez-bots in a "Raid"

8 RepliesRemember when the first game received loot refreshes with every content drop? Every tower vendor all with new and exciting things to earn! That was D1. And the sequel can't manage this?!

4 RepliesEdited by Doc_Roidberg: 11/11/2020 11:21:59 AMBlack Armory added 31 guns and cost $12. About 1/4th of the price of Beyond Light. And didn’t sunset any previous gear.

The lack of loot is staggering. I am getting the same mediocre trash over and over. And I look in my vault at all the now-useless guns. BL is bad, very bad.

Edited by Davie4: 11/13/2020 7:13:45 PMDude it has loot. Look at all those blues it gives you. But really it’s been this way since launch. They make seasonal guns and trash them in a few months but leave y1 vendors selling y1 guns entire lifecycle. Someone needs to have a heart to heart with bungie and tell them they can’t copy epic with fortnite because they are understaffed for releasing their guns and making it expire after a season. Game should operate such that new stuff releases and older stuff gets rarer to find in wild unless it’s removed, but instead they remove newer stuff and raise power on older stuff? Leave the seasonal FOMO for skins and cosmetics bungie.

2 RepliesI don't think we're playing the same game...
-
Your title sure brought back some memories of D2 vanilla. I remember distinctly saying something similar, "A space magic looter shooter with no space magic and crappy loot." LOL.
-
10 RepliesSo basically, what I've been able to gather up until now: The expansion is much smaller than Forsaken, has a short-ish story yet again with fewer weapons while most of the previous weapons have been sunset... but it all costs more than before. I'm so glad I quit lol.

6 RepliesI play Borderlands 3 since some weeks, it has SO MUCH LOOT! If I had to spend 50€ on a looter shooter, that would be Borderlands 3 season pass.

9 RepliesI can't speak to the rolls/archetypes as i've not looked myself. But for the broad question I feel like i'm satisfied with what we got. Seems to be a tad bigger than shadow keep. Considering Shadowkeep is the minimum i'd expect out of an expansion that seems fine. Though I don't know how much of this is because we have a brand new subclass. Luke Smith admitted recently that they can't really make forsaken/TTK sized expansions anymore since the departure from activision. Which is a bummer but is fine for me. Destiny as a franchise became very clear to me as a game that isn't fun enough to play "just because." I've always been far more invested because of the lore/story side of things. So I guess if you're someone who only cares about gameplay itself than I can see why less content (esp with sunsetting) stings. However it's just the reality we have since Bungie decided to go independent. I'm willing to work with what they feel they're capable of. It seems like they're mostly receptible to feedback as we see a continuing of them attempting to improve the game. And that's all I can really ask. Back when Bungie announced Destiny and showed us concepts/teased us with their pitch my mind went flush with possibilities. It took awhile but I eventually learned to accept that what I personally want from the series isn't the same thing they want. This has helped me come to enjoy Destiny for what is is. And probably why I don't fret about things as much as most do here.
23 guns, almost all are undesirable archetypes, and the roll options are super bland.
That is intentional. By getting rid of the majority of equipment and having so little in the game, and the new stuff we can use being bad, now they have 2 years to start giving us back all the good things we already had once again. If Bungie gave us good stuff in the beginning, then we wont care about the loot for the next couple years.

And no shoot either. Everything that is easy to use is one hit kill or has a stun in the crucible.
-
So far have picked up a good amount of weapons to try . Im enjoying the quests, campaign, new strikes and Europa.

1 ReplyWho still remembers when Cayde-⁶ said there'd be loot? All that loot is now sunsetted, 😷.

27 RepliesCan't wait to see a certain someone try to defend this and move the goal posts to his favor yet again.

4 RepliesI play Borderlands franchise more than Destiny. Borderlands is the inspiration for Destiny's basic model but WoW Boy Smith has royally screwed over the franchise. Borderlands does drown you in loot. You can be powerful and equip all slots with Legendaries = Exotics. Destiny is a constant powergrind that is not fun to play. Fun is Borderlands. I still poke around Destiny because when it first came out I played it faithfully and bought everything. Now I do Free to Play because , in my opinion, it is not worth the money. They gutted FTP and are bring back pieces of D1 as new? Overall I play it as nostalgia.

Loot died when Cayde-6 died.. RIP

I was really into chasing the new Europa armor but now that I got it I have no idea what to do next than go for the new stuff especially the armor arms.
-
2 RepliesBig thing I've noticed is the direction they went with the armor 2.0 with mods and transmog. I am not a fan of those 2 things. I liked chasing armor that had stat perks on it like the weapons. It was exhilarating to get a piece of armor that finally had hand cannon loader. Now with the stats, I have the trials armor and nothing is going to beat that armor, so why would I want to try and get other stuff that won't come close to the stat line. Yeah I could "transmog" it but that is just a waste to me. This game has turned into a weapon chase. They need to get rid of the season model and focus on bigger DLC's. But I think you will run into this problem even if they gave you a vendor refresh with armor. Cause it goes to my point again....why would you choose vendor armor that has shitty stats. It used to be how cool the armor looked, now its how much stats does it have.

1 Replyits getting monotonous because thats exactly what it is. Theres no wide variety of things to grind for, its just THE exotics, and ... what are they now... are we no longer doing pinnacles or whatever? I can never keep track. Anyway. Theres no VARIETY there to keep people interested. We are on basicly a frozen version of the moon with less of a hive asthetic, grinding the SAME EVENTS we have grinded since Year One. The art is lovely but everything else is suffering.
-
Funny part is the exotics aren't really looted either...they're all locked behind past-softcap activities. The easiest to get is the wannabe-anarchy through its quest, and thats just sad.
-
3 RepliesCame here to see if anyone thought like I did. N here you are :) there's no new guns worth even equipping, nonstop drops of old weapons, boring AF
-
1 ReplyGodfall comes out later today on PC hopefully that's cool then cod the cyber punk I'm really not gonna worry about it this expansion is ass and unfortunately probably the last I buy. These constant half assings by bungie are just getting annoying

2 RepliesGuns feel weak. I feel like im just tickling the enemies. I think that was there goal all along, make the gameplay harder by making you weaker. Its not compelling gameplay to just dump hundreds of rounds into tanky enemies. If that was the case, I'd still be playing the Division. See how it feels once i hit the hard cap.
