If you'd rather not have another fanfic clog the lore page just tell me, but I've read some and am now inspired to write my own. However, I don't see the purpose in doing so if not properly motivated by a entourage of supporters: I need to know this isn't a waste of time. Actually, instead of doing a series of my own design, I was hoping you all could tell me short stories you'd like to see someone write. And I can do a series of various short stories. If you'd all be reading it and providing constructive feedback, then I see a way of improving my writing in front of others. What I won't write about is anything that's a lore content created directly from Bungie e.g., key events, characters, etc. Thanks for reading this far btw.

I recommend going to a more friendly place where your stories will get much more attention, and you can really establish your work. :)

1 ReplyEdited by Grays_KS27: 6/30/2020 1:46:55 AMWell, I suppose it won’t hurt for me to speak up. The other comments have probably already given you a good idea of all this, but I’ll add my two cents and write an annoyingly long text wall just for you ;) If you post a fanfic on Bnet, #Lore is the forum for it. Don’t try posting in other forums. Just put something like [FANFIC] in the title so that people can see that it’s fanfic, and use a hashtag like #fanfic or #fanfiction But there are other websites where your fanfics will get more friendly reception and attention. You’re story can follow Destiny’s lore or not. If it doesn’t, then it would probably be best to have some kind of message saying “I know my story doesn’t follow canon” to avoid getting any backlash. That said, there are some great stories that don’t follow canon and some of the ideas in these are really cool “what if”s for lore nerds. As for the feedback you’ll get: At first you’ll probably get a good deal of negative feedback, mostly just people saying “stop posting fanfic.” Just ignore those, and they’ll all mostly leave you alone after a couple posts. You’ll also get some readers with positive feedback who will follow the story, but usually there’s only a few of them. Most stories don’t get much feedback from readers, or don’t seem to have very many readers, so if you’re going to write then it better be for your own fun. If you’re not going to enjoy writing for yourself and only a handful of other people, then it could get rough for you. I highly recommend that you don’t post more than twice a week. In fact, just one post a week is great. This is because a slower, relaxed posting schedule is much more stable and too many posts will get tangled up in the forum, and because some people freak out if they see more than two fanfic posts in one day. You can write several stories beforehand and post them at a slower rate, giving yourself a more relaxed writing schedule. In reality there are very few fanfic posts compared to the overall number of posts in this forum, normally so few that they aren’t even noticeable. But the quality of other posts in the forum varies from good lore posts to random rubbish, so great lore posts often aren’t very numerous either. And on very rare occasions there will be a flood of fanfic, usually if two or three new writers pop up at the same time and all start making several posts a week, or on the dreaded occasions when one person will make many posts in the space of a few days or even just one day. As some people mentioned, we used to have a forum for fanfics called #Gallery, but it was removed and now we’re all stuck in lore.

2 RepliesEdited by Petra Fisher: 6/29/2020 11:41:42 AMIf you wanna write then go for it, buddy. Though, there’s gonna be people telling you to stop, there always is. But you can’t let some anti-Fanfic people stop ya from doing what you want to do, as long as what you’re doing ain’t hurting no one. Now, I get that nearly every other comment in here is telling ya not to, but I don’t blame them, they’re some of the big Lore guys on here so they’d understandably want to see as much lore as possible. But as a writer myself, I can say that it always feels great when you manage to write something you’re proud of. This brings me to my next point, don’t post fanfic too often. I recommend two Fanfic’s per week maximum (that’s my limit), out of that, you can make as many lore posts as you want (as long as you don’t flood the forums, I mean). Now, I could go on and on all day ‘bout this, but I ain’t a fan of going on rants. If ya want to read some really talented writers, I suggest checking out KSeth27/KS27 and ShadowHeartMC. Those two alone gave me the inspiration I needed to start writing on here.

5 RepliesWant my advice? Don’t. Starting out would be hard; I don’t pay attention to fanfic, but I know that those who are well known like ShadowHeart, Kseth or FoxBurton have been doing this for years, and they still get trashed on. Even if it’s minimal. There’s also the Salt Miners who say “lore should be for lore, not fanfic” but don’t use the lore forum at all. But you’re bound to hear about that if you do so. There’s also the added problem for people like myself who choose to make lore posts, but because of the fanfics, the general discussion of lore gets drowned down under fanfics. This wouldn’t be a problem, but because the ratio of lore post to fanfic is 1:3 (roughly) it’s hard to post lore. Speaking of lore; you’d need to keep to the confines of the lore and not necessarily break canon unless you mention that it’s set in an AU and that nothing is canon. Also title and tag your post as “fanfiction” or “fanfic” after the title because that helps some of us navigate the forums easily. Other than that, do what you want.

3 RepliesNot me. But if you do, I will be glad to add you to my expansive list of muted cringey and degenerate roleplayers/fanfiction "writers".

6 RepliesI remember when this was a place of lore. Now it is only that of fan fiction, the wells of knowledge had been dried. The garden devoid of life and nature. The destiny sub Reddit has become the only place for real lore. So please do as you wish but do not come to off topic. That sub is not for those that love destiny. It is a place of life and you were brought back by a dead power. In the shape of the dead. All you will do is kill.

2 RepliesGo for it. As long as it stays within the confines of the lore I don’t have a problem with it.

5 RepliesI mean no offense man, but I'd recommend against it But hey, your life is up for you to decide. I'm not gonna insta down vote or anything
