This has to be a thing. We're all human (Superhuman/androids) and immortal after all, you cannot live for centuries and go through countless firefights and NOT get PTSD. Always brush your teeth.

Dying and coming back has to be traumatic. As living creatures and digital facsimiles/conversions of living creatures, the panic from actually dying shouldn't go away. Just think of the Drifter starving to death over and over and over again. Must have been hell.
-
Yep. Ol' Drifter's been through a few things. The spectre/nightmares of Eris' old fireteam all sound like they've been killed so painfully, so many times that they've lost all hope of ever seeing daylight or of living a life without the memory of that pain. Asher Mir seems to live half in terror of Brakion, while the other half of him is propelled purely by a lust for revenge on the Genesis Mind. The lore indicates that if a guardian dies of starvation in a remote place, they can be resurrected, but will continue to perish from starvation regularly and more frequently. What happens to a guardian who suffers through weeks or months of that? The body may be immortal, but the mind can still be scarred, and just because you can't die doesn't mean that there aren't things to fear. And guardians can die, after all. Crota slew them with abandon. The Scorned went to great lengths to construct the kind of bullet that could kill Cayde's ghost. The Cabal clapped the Traveler in irons and rendered every guardian mortal for a short while.

i still have PTSD back from when Garry took the Light, & kicked me & ghost off a cliff, i thought i was gonna die my last death cause the Traveler was Trapped, then that goddamn Dorito brought him back as a Nightmare😟

Tevis said it himself, “Doesn’t matter how good you are- you stay out there too long, you’re not coming back. Not the same way you left, anyway.”
Graviton Forfeit’s lore tab still is one of my favorites.
2 RepliesWhile PTSD is important, Funny story: Remember that Centurion Oryx took right after you landed on the Dreadnaught, then the Centurion and the taken Ogre tried to stop you from killing the King? Heh... didn't work. So the Centurion's bond brothers are pretty angry they lost their commander. They're leading a team to blow up the Dreadnaught's core. Core goes... most of the system goes with it. You're going to make sure that doesn't happen.

3 RepliesI don’t get PTSD because I’m not living through a traumatic event, I AM the traumatic event.

1 ReplyEdited by Freak: 5/29/2020 3:33:30 PMMurdering zombies don’t get PTSD. We give others PTSD. I always try to leave one combatant alive so they can endlessly relive the moment and of course to tell the tale of what horrors they saw as they watched me slay their family members all across the galaxy...

We’re more likely to get Repetitive Strain Injury.

Guardians can take something called Immortalia to deal with their traumas and stress
-
Well im not sure but i think the more impressive thing is that some guardians remember things from hundred of years ago i mean the dark age wasnt 100 years ago right? The last city looks pretty dang advanced Also just going from what i know if the darkage even happened 100 years after the collapse even after 200 (total 300 years) i dont think some places in the world should look the way they do now like most of mars is covered in dust from what used to be a big city and venus has some extreme overgrowth as well Edz and cosmodrone look hundreds of years old. I haven’t read lore so i have no clue what year anything is but i do know humans do have a limit to what they can remember (not limited to robots or purple people)

Unless you choose to be a traumatic event. Then it's just a circus of joy.

16 RepliesPost Tramatic Stress Disorder is a disorder which developes post-tramatic stress. Trama is typically associated with events where one's life is in danger, or is perceived to be in danger because of anxiety. At the very least graevious physical harm. Guardians are immortal so they aren't afraid of death and they can recover from any injury nearly instantaneously. PTSD is far from something that is inevitable. PTSD is caused by events which are extreme. If your life is already extreme it will take something truly and exceptionally intense to cause irreparable psychological harm.

I'd imagine so. I'd think it would especially apply to most that survived the Red Legion Assault after they cut off The Traveller. The chances of Final Death during Twilight Gap, Six Fronts, The Great Disaster, and The Dark Ages were high. Two of those were obviously much higher. But during the RLA...the chances of a Guardian permanently dying were extremely higher. It was during this time, Lightbearers and Humanity was reminded just how quickly everything can come crashing down and fall to pieces. Now whenever you see a Cabal ship of any particular Legion, you will be reminded of that time. Whenever you see a Cabal Legionnaire, Centurion, Colossus, and so on.....you will be reminded of that time of when everyone you knew came close to perma-death....of when Humanity got another taste of near-extinction.

Drifters a PRIME Example.

Do you ever wonder who you were before you were resurrected? Do you experience debilitating anxiety when you think about the cold, crushing fist of death? Has the desire to lie facedown on the floor for hours at a time been holding YOU back? From the people that brought you Lunal comes prescription-strength Immortalia: a revolutionary new combat elixir shown to relieve the crippling existential crises of your second life. Immortalia can reduce symptoms of listlessness, cynicism, and social anxiety. Side effects may include dancing, salty behavior, and acts of group heroism. Do not take Immortalia while operating all-terrain thrust bikes.

-
I too, suffer from: Pre-nerfs Tilts Sunsetting. Dinklebot.
-
Floss too... cannot go without flossing. Mouthwash probably wouldn’t hurt either.
-
Post Traumatic "Sunset" Disorder?? Bruh.......
-
Yes they do. Saint 14 was exhibiting signs of it during the retrieval quest. But I often wonder if some slight memory wiping happens when we are resurrected by the Ghost. Still to this day am I convinced that the Traveler isn’t exactly “on our side” and a lot of the relationship seems out of convenience. Look what happened to the Fallen. We would be foolish to think we are special.

I mean we definitely don't get traditional PTSD. But Guardians like Zavala and Saladin have experienced symptoms similar to PTSD following events like the death of the iron lords and the red war
